Dying Man Has One Final Wish - To Find His Dogs A Good Home

When Bobby Lynn Brockman was only 50-years-old, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He did everything he could to try and fight it off, but it kept coming back with a vengeance. Now that Bobby’s days are numbered there’s only one thing on his mind: Finding a good home for his “kids.”

After Bobby found out he had cancer, he went into remission for a year until it spread to his mouth resulting in having to have his tongue removed. Despite 110 radiation treatments and 12 rounds of chemotherapy, Bobby’s condition wasn’t improving.

The cancer has now settled into his bones.

“There is no cure for it, there’s no cure,” Brockman told Fox 26 News. “They sent me home with pain medication and gave me a hospital bed.”

Knowing that he will soon pass away, Bobby has made it his final mission to find a good and loving home for his “kids,” which happen to be a group of dogs that adore Bobby.

“Yeah, those dogs are like family to me,” described Brockman. “They’re my kids.”

He has four large dogs and three smaller ones that sleep in bed with him. One of the dogs recently gave birth and another is pregnant. Bobby is single and lives alone, so his dogs are the only companions he has.

“They adopted me more than I adopted them,” he said. “They will be here till I die. It would mean everything in the world to know they’re going to be happy and have someone love them and take care of them.”

Bobby’s plea has not gone ignored. Karen Wakefield from Adopt A Rescued Friend was so touched by Bobby’s story that she has made a commitment to help him find the perfect family for his sweet pups.

Adopt A Rescued Friend is a non-profit, no kill, all breed organization in Houston, Texas that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes companion animals with families who are ready for a lifetime commitment. They depend solely on donations for support and foster the animals in their homes until they are matched with the right owner.

“We’ve got to find a way to help him, we’ve just got to,” said Wakefield. "We just want to help him have some peace of mind and be at peace."

“I miss 'em already and they ain’t even gone yet,” said Bobby.
