DWTS: Derek Hough And Girlfriend Hayley Erbert Return To The Dance Floor To Perform Sultry Routine

Derek Hough is well-known by most fans of the world of dance. Holding the most wins on Dancing With the Stars than any other professional dancer, Hough returned this week to the dance floor for the first time in three years for a fiery routine with his girlfriend, Hayley Erbert–and boy, they did not disappoint. 

Derek Hough recently performed on Dancing With the Stars with his girlfriend, Hayley Erbert, showing us why Hough has such a great reputation. The couple has been dating for five years, and their mutual passion brought them together for a dance.

When Hough asked Erbert to perform with him, she was just as enthusiastic about the event as he was. The couple met during their time in a dance troupe in which they performed on multiple occasions together. On the show, the couple performed to the song "Uccen," by the Taalbi Brothers. They showcased a unique dance style called Pasodoble, a Spanish double-step march that requires both rhythm and precision. The last time Hough performed on the show was in the year 2017, and it has been a while since the world of dance has last seen him.

Hough initially left the show after he placed sixth alongside Marilu Henner in 2016. Later, for the show's 29th season, he became a permanent member of the judges' panel, replacing Len Goodman, the head judge.

According to a statement by ABC, Goodman's position was given away due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic. He could not make the trip to Los Angeles because his age group was at immediate risk for contracting the disease. Hough currently holds the record for having the most wins on the show as a professional dancer. He has danced with plenty of celebrities, including Nicole Scherzinger, Kellie Pickler, Bindi Irwin, Amber Riley, Jennifer Grey, and Brooke Burke.

According to Oprah magazine, Erbert began her career as a troupe performer in 2015 during season 21. That was when she met Hough and the two began dating. The troupe did not make it past season 21 and was cut from the show, causing Erbert to also end her seven seasons on the show.

During the pandemic, Erbert and Hough have been seen spending plenty of quality time together. Hough claims that the pandemic has caused them to grow closer together and strengthen their bond.

"We came together, we got closer. We grew as a couple tremendously," Hough said on an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show last month. 

In the same recent interview, Hough was asked if he was planning to propose to Erbert on the show, to which he replied that he would not. Erbert and Hough would much rather have a discreet proposal, rather than publicly proposing in front of thousands on national television.

Marriage proposals have taken place on the show before. In 2016, contestant Sasha Farber got down on one knee to propose to his partner, Emma Slater in front of everyone. Although public displays are beautiful, some couples prefer discreet displays of affection, and we can expect to hear of Hough's proposal sometime soon.

After over three years, Derek Hough has finally returned to Dancing With the Stars along with his partner, Hayley Erbert. The couple has been together since the year 2015 and initially met during their time in a dance troupe.

Fans speculated that Hough was to propose to Erbert during their recent performance, however, Hough claims that the proposal will come at a later time.
