Dwayne opened up to Fortune magazine about how his early days were not so star-struck. He and his mother were living in Honolulu when they were evicted from their apartment. “I remember saying to myself, ‘I will do anything and everything I possibly can to make sure we never get evicted again.’ But what does that mean—what does it mean to be successful? Well, the successful men I admired all built their bodies.”

Dwayne began playing football in college and although it seemed he was on a straight line for the NFL a back injury sidelined his career. Having to start over again, Dwayne began wrestling in small-time matches before making it to the WWE where he became one of the most televised stars and got his nickname "The Rock" according to Fortune

Dwayne said in a video interview how we was unsure of the future but how he trusted in God. "I was a little unsure of what was actually gonna happen, you know, so I just have to, put my faith in God and continue to work hard and hopefully good things will happen," he said.

Speaking on Oprah's Master Class, Dwayne talked about depression and his rough start to life saying: "You're not the first to go through it; you're not going to be the last to go through it. You feel like it's only you. You're in your bubble," he said. "I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and [say], 'Hey, it's gonna be okay. It'll be okay.' So, I wish I knew that."

But Dwayne said to have one thing to get you through moments like this, "Hold onto that fundamental quality of faith, have faith that on the other side of your pain is something good."
