Dwayne Johnson's Surprised His Mom With A Remarkable Christmas Gift

Dwayne Johnson is an American actor, businessman and former professional wrestler. He is also known by his ring name, The Rock. Johnson worked as a WWE professional wrestler prior to his acting career for eight years and is considered one of the best to ever compete in the sport. He has also seen great success as an actor and his films have grossed $3.5 billion in North America and $10.5 billion internationally. This makes him one of the most popular and highest-paid actors of all time. 

Johnson comes from a long line of wrestlers as part of the Anoa'i family. His father, Rocky, and maternal grandfather, Peter Maivia, were both professional wrestlers. Johnson signed a contract with WWE, then the WWF, in 1996 and retired officially from the sport in 2019 as a 10-time world champion. 

The star’s first leading role in a film came in 2002 with “The Scorpion King.” Johnson went on to star in a number of comedies throughout the 2000s including, “The Tooth Fairy,” “The Game Plan” and “Central Intelligence.” Johnson joined the “Fast and Furious” franchise in 2011 as Luke Hobbs and has been partly responsible for the films’ massive popularity.

On television, Johnson produced and starred in the HBO comedy “Ballers” from 2015 to 2019. He is currently working on an autobiographical sitcom called “Young Rock,” which he also produces and stars in. The show shows what Johnson’s early life was like and the characters are based on his actual family.

Working on “Young Rock” has been challenging at times for Johnson. "Growing up, and you know we specifically went with these timelines in my life that were very defining times at 10 years old, 15 and 18 … there's a lot of things in between those years that took place ... but it was complicated and the relationship that I had with my dad was incredibly complicated — that was fueled by tough love," he shared according to People.

Johnson explained, "My dad was kicked out of his house at 13 and he was homeless, so that then shaped the man who then raised me. And in that complication came an extraordinary life that was full of travel. I lived in 13 different states by the time I was 13 years old, and also lived in New Zealand.”

The actor felt that his father would have liked to see the portrayal of his life on screen. Johnson said, "He would have loved this and he would have been so proud because for the first time, certainly in prime time, we are showcasing this world, that he and all of his brothers of the rings, so to speak, of those men in the '70s and the '80s, that they gave their lives to."

Johnson added: "And, you know, to showcase it like this, and to showcase it through the lens of something that's positive and know what it meant, a lot to my dad because a lot of times the world of pro wrestling isn't always looked at through that lens in a positive way. There's a lot of positive stuff that we could take out of this."

Family is incredibly important to Johnson, and he showed his appreciation for his mom during Christmas 2021 by gifting her a new Cadillac. Johnson wrote on his Instagram: 

“This one felt good. Surprised my mom with a new car for Christmas today 🎅🏾🎄 She was shocked. She got a few good ugly cries in. Then once her grandbabies joined her inside the car. She was overcome with pure joy.”

In the video he posted, Johnson’s mom is seen crying as he reveals the surprise gift. His kids and even his dog are all present in the video. Johnson shared, “Even Hobbs, my dog wanted to (see the car) with his new Christmas chicken 🐓🤣”

Johnson’s mom looked so shocked but happy when she saw her gift. The star ended his post by writing: “I’m so grateful I can do this kinda stuff for my mom, who’s had one helluva life. I don’t take any of it for granted. Neither does she. Merry Christmas ma, enjoy your new ride!!! 😊🙌🏾 And your Elvis records 🎶🕺🏽 We love you. You deserve a lot more 🙏🏾”

The post has over five million likes and thousands of comments. One person said, “You’re one of a kind and this is what Christmas is all about. Merry Christmas to you and your family!”

Fans were impressed by the gift-giving and pointed out how wonderful Johnson’s mom is. Another person added, “Your mom is the cutest and the sweetest.”

Even the company Cadillac commented on the video. They said, “We hope your mom loves her new ride and you all have a wonderful year to come.”
