Local businesses often show their true colors when tragedy strikes a community.

This is exactly what happened when a California Dutch Bros. stepped up to the plate to honor a slain police officer.

Natalie Corona had always wanted to be a police officer. Just like father, Natalie dreamed of helping out the community in which she lived through a career in law enforcement.

In 2016, Natalie took the first step to making that dream a reality when she became a community service officer with the Davis Police Department, located just outside of Sacramento. Natalie later graduated from the police academy after being hailed as a perfect student and a rising star in the department.

At only 22, Natalie was ready to take on the world and follow in the footsteps of her father.

Sadly, all of those dreams were shattered just a few weeks into the job.

On January 10, 2019, Natalie lost her life when she was in the wrong place at the very worst time. What Natalie thought was a routine response to a minor car accident turned deadly when a gunman opened fire.

Tragically, Natalie lost her battle at UC Davis Medical Center, devastating her family, friends, and her entire community.

Thousands of mourners attended Natalie's memorial service, showing up to pay tribute to the fallen hero and to comfort her family members.

Natalie had been a regular customer at her local Dutch Bros. coffee stand. When the company learned of her untimely death, they announced that they would participate in raising money for the Natalie Corona Memorial Fund.

In just a few days, the popular coffee company already raised $82,000 for the fund, proving their commitment to the community.
