Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Release Beautiful Family 2021 Christmas Card

Dec 10, 2021 by apost team

As is tradition every year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released their official Christmas card photo for this year, and as always, it's simply gorgeous. The release of a new family photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, is always a highlight of the holidays for royal fans.

This year's card is a little different from previous years. The last two Christmas cards saw the family photographed in autumnal settings, as they donned warm weather clothing, while this year's photo was taken in the summer.

Last year's card featured the family dressed in sweaters and boots as they sat on a haystack in front of a large woodpile at Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk. The atmosphere was very cozy and matched the colder weather of the holiday season. In the photo, Charlotte's resemblance to her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II was well noted. The previous year the Cambridges were similarly rugged up in sweaters as they posed in front of trees that had begun to turn color.

This year's photo is in stark contrast to the previous Christmas card photos as it was taken during the summer on a family trip to Jordan. In the image, the royals donned summer clothing as they posed in front of a rock wall. However, their warm, family vibe remained the same as always.

This year marked a decade since the duke and duchess exchanged vows in front of the world at Westminster Abbey. Since then, the royal couple has been busy building a family, and nowadays it's always a delight when they release new family photos.

In the new photo, which was posted on the family's official Instagram page, the family of five looked relaxed and happy on their summer vacation. The caption alongside the image read:

"Delighted to share a new image of the family, which features on this year’s Christmas card 🎄"

Kate looked gorgeous as always in an olive green dress with her hair worn down in waves. William opted for a matching olive green polo shirt and beige khaki shorts, while George wore a similar outfit to his father, however his polo shirt was a khaki camouflage print. Charlotte switched the colors up with a blue and navy gingham dress, while Louis copied her lead and wore a blue striped polo shirt.

The family was photographed in front of a large rock wall as they sat on various items including a gold ottoman and what appears to be animal fur. Jordan holds a special significance for Kate as she lived there for two years when she was a child due to her father's work for British Airways. Meanwhile, William visited the country back in 2018 as part of his tour of the Middle East.

The image was taken by royal photographer Matt Porteous, who has taken many photos of special moments in the Cambridge family's lives including Louis' christening. Royal fans were overjoyed at the adorable new family photo, while one person commented that Charlotte resembled her grandmother, Princess Diana. They wrote:

"Charlotte is looking so much alike princess Diana, she would be so prou(d) and happy!"

Charlotte's likeness to her grandmother in this year's photo is in contrast to last year's photo, in which many people believed she looked just like her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. Her resemblance to the queen has been long drawn by fans since the little royal was a baby but last year's card only highlighted this even more.

Last year's Christmas card portrait was actually leaked early after a recipient posted a photo of it to their social media. The card was made out to "all the amazing NHS staff" alongside the message, "Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year." It was revealed that inside the card was a handwritten note from William that said:

"We can never thank you again for all the dedication and sacrifice you have had to make this year. We will be forever grateful."

Thankfully, this year's card wasn't leaked early and was released by the royals on their own terms.

Meanwhile, earlier this week many of the royals came out to attend a carol concert that took place at Westminster Abbey. Kate hosted the event and was supported by William and other royals including Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie, and Mike and Zara Tindall. Kate's family, including her siblings and parents Carole and Michael Middleton, were also seen at the Abbey.

Titled "Together At Christmas," the carol service was spearheaded by the Duchess of Cambridge and is supported by The Royal Foundation in honor of the amazing work individuals and organizations all over the UK are doing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
