Duchess Kate Middleton Has 'Taken Ownership Of George, Charlotte, And Louis' Public Image'

Kate Middleton is known for many things as a senior member of the royal family; from her impeccable taste in fashion to her passion for causes, Kate has proven herself to be an excellent queen consort in the making. However, her role as a mother to her three children, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, has made her a fan favorite as well. Kate has beautifully balanced the duties of her work and those of motherhood well. 
The same can be said about Prince William, who has shown that he is an incredible father to all of his children. Kate and William have done their best to keep their personal life private and show just how much of a normal family they actually are. However, with such a prime spot in the public eye, it was only time until people began to notice the ways in which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge act toward their three adorable children. Throughout their many outings and interactions as a family, the royal couple has shown nothing but love, affection, and support for each other and their kids.

In an interview with The Telegraph from July 2021, royal expert Camilla Tominey discussed how Kate Middleton's hobby of photography has enabled her to take more ownership of the public image of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

In an interview with The Telegraph published on July 22, 2021, royal expert Camilla Tominey got into all the details about how Kate Middleton controls her children's public image. Now that Kate Middleton has been taking portraits of her children and releasing them on birthdays and other special events, she has taken the reigns regarding her children's public image. 

Tominey said:

"The paparazzi — there's no market anymore because the Duchess comes out with her own family photos and they're far more valuable to the press than images taken at a long lense. That's how The Cambridges are going to strike the balance, they're going to give in order to receive a degree of privacy back."

Kate Middleton recently released a photo of Prince George on his birthday on July 22, 2021. Tominey commented on the portrait as she said:

"George's childhood will be very different from the royals who have gone before him. His generation is the digital generation and the challenges for the Cambridges as time goes on is how to manage public interest in their son with their own privacy."

Tominey emphasized how the portraits from Kate are a strategic move in terms of publicity balance. She said:

"Equally the Cambridges do want the public to see their children and have some degree of access to them. You've got to balance the private and public of their lives and there's an expectation of seeing George grow up because he will one day be king." 

This reality of Prince George's future might put extra pressure on the Cambridges to control their family's image.

Tominey noted that over the years, the royals have been more hands-on when it comes to parenting. She said:

"We're told the Cambridges very much plan their diary around the fact someone needs to be there in the morning and for bedtime. We know the Duchess does the school run herself and drives the children in - that they're there for the key events in the school term. They want to be parents first and foremost. There's a sense for both of them that they know what their destiny is...but before then, they want to try to preserve as much family life as they can. Prince George is a child of the new digital generation - unlike when Prince William and Harry got into trouble."

When it comes to Prince George's image as a teenager, Tominey discussed how it will be more up to him to maintain what his mother has started:

"I think Prince George will have to be quite careful to preserve his own privacy as he becomes a teenager and his parents will be acutely aware he's vulnerable. The interesting thing about the Cambridge's model, and it's kind of unique for the royals, is that the Duchess in particular has almost taken ownership of the children's image. We had a situation when the children were first born when the couple were worried about pap shots...Kate now saturates the market with her own imagery of the children. And I think we'll see that continue."

Either way, it's for sure that Middleton has worked hard to ensure privacy for her family, but we're sure glad she still gives us such gorgeous family portraits!
