Celebrities and royals are just like you and me, so now that a new year is upon us, they've been busy sending well wishes and greetings to their fans. Leading the charge are Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who posted a new photo of themselves to their Twitter account alongside a happy new year message.

They weren't the only royals to wish everyone a happy new year — Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also shared a post on their Twitter account. Other celebrities who also rang in the new year with posts of their own included former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and others.

On the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's official Twitter account, they posted:

"Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!"

Accompanying the text was a gorgeous photo of the couple in the back of a car smiling widely, as they're dressed to the nines. The future king looked dapper in a tuxedo while Middleton glowed in a gold gown. From their outfits, it appears that the photo was taken from the premiere of the latest James Bond movie, "No Time To Die," which the royal couple attended back in September.

Middleton's stunning gilded gown was covered in sequins and featured a cape. It was designed by British designer Jenny Packham. The royal accentuated her gown with gold earrings and a chic updo. Although she didn't wear the gold dress for new year's eve, it's incredibly fitting for the event, which makes the photo of the duke and duchess even more appropriate for the occasion.

William's father Prince Charles also shared a new year's post on the Twitter account he shares with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. They wrote a lengthier caption, which read:

"A joy to see so many of you again this year — whether that be with elbow bumps, handshakes or a friendly wave from afar!

"Wishing you all a very happy and restful New Year."

The couple included a short video that featured a montage of photos from the year. From the same Bond movie premiere to meeting with NHS workers, the royals were all smiles in the images.

Meanwhile, other celebrities were just as joyous in their posts. Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham posted a throwback photo of herself from the band's "Wannabe" music video, which was their debut single. In it, she has her arms up in the air and is grinning widely. Beckham captioned the photo:

"New Year's Eve mood!! Hoping you all have a spicy one"

Another British music icon, Sir Elton John also welcomed in the new year with a heartfelt message on his Twitter. He wrote:

"As 2021 comes to an an end, I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for one of the most incredible years of my career."

In a follow-up tweet he wrote:

"It has meant the world to be able to share my music with more people than ever before (65 million listeners on @spotify, the 6th most listened to artist globally) and break some personal and world records in the process."

He added that he couldn't wait to get back on the road and tour with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road show.

Yet another iconic British musician also rang in the new year with a post to his fans — Sir Paul McCartney. He posted a photo to his Twitter of himself on stage with an image of a crowd on a screen behind him. The former Beatle captioned the post:

"Happy New Year's. May next year be shining bright."

Other British celebrities who posted new year's well wishes included business mogul Lord Alan Sugar and "Strictly Come Dancing" contestant Rose Ayling-Ellis. The 27-year-old was the show's first-ever deaf contestant and following 13 weeks of grueling training and live performances, she won her season alongside professional dancer Giovanni Pernice. It's said that the BBC is reportedly planning a documentary about her life so far.

In her new year's post on Instagram, she wrote an inspiring caption that read:

"Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What's important is the action. You don't have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.

"That definitely what 2021 did for me, the year of growth, discovery and surprises. I cannot wait to see what 2022 would bring."

Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan also shared a new year's message to the public alongside photos of the fireworks that took place in the capital city on New Year's Eve. He wrote:

"From London to the world: Happy New Year. Hope you enjoyed the show!"

The fireworks show went ahead for this new year's celebrations, however, members of the public weren't invited to attend the display in person. The previous year's fireworks display was canceled due to the pandemic.
