Since Beth Chapman’s throat cancer diagnosis a few years ago, Duane “Dog” Chapman had been getting ready for the final moment with his wife. But no matter how much he tried to mentally prepare, he wasn’t ready for it when the time came.

Dog and Beth were stars on the reality show series “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” along with their big, happy family of bounty hunters. Sadly, Beth recently passed away at the age of 51 on June 26 after a long struggle with cancer.

Dog spoke in an exclusive interview about life without his beloved by his side, and about that very last moment they had together.

"The last few moments she said, 'Come in here right now, in the bathroom,'" he said to Entertainment Tonight. "I went in and she said, 'Look at me.' And I said, 'Yeah, you're freaking beautiful baby.' [And she said,] 'Look at me, Duane Chapman.' And I did, I always saw Beth and she said, 'Please, let me go.'"

As much as he knew the day was coming, the moment still blindsided Dog. When asked if he was prepared he said:

"So, prepared? No, you're never, ever prepared. You can't prepare," he told Entertainment Tonight. "There is no way. I did not know that this was going to happen that day."

Beth also knew what was coming and she tried to get her husband ready. Dog recalled, “Everyday she talked as if she was not there,” to Entertainment Tonight. Beth tried to prep him in answering medical questions directly for when the ambulance arrived, and not to keep running his mouth.

Dog and Beth were one of the great love stories on reality TV, and his devotion to his wife is still palpable.

“There is not another Beth. There'll never be another Beth. There ain't a girl built like another Beth," he told Entertainment Tonight.

Please send your thoughts and prayers to the Chapman family as they go through this difficult time. Rest in peace Beth Chapman.
