Dry, Cracked Feet Don't "Stand" A Chance With This Brilliant Trick

After spending months stuffed into boots and closed-toed shoes, your feet are longing to slide into flip-flops or sexy sandals and finally breathe the warm, summer air! However, feet--like people--don't look their best right after waking up from a long winter's nap. In fact, they can look pretty rough...literally. Before hitting the beach or going barefoot in the park, you're going to want to tidy up the tootsies, and you can do it in the comfort of your own home, without spending a fortune at a fancy spa, using a common household product that's probably already tucked into your bathroom cabinet: Listerine.

Yes, you heard right: Listerine. As it turns out, Listerine can freshen your feet as well as it freshens your breath. Who knew? The benzoic acid and ethanol found in this antiseptic mouthwash soften dry, dead skin cells, making them easy to slough away. These active ingredients also kill the germs, fungi, and bacteria that cause athlete's foot; you can tell by the tingle that it's working! Plus, you walk away with the added benefit that your feet smell minty fresh!

But don't just stick your feet in a bucket of Listerine; there's a little more to it than that. You will need:

  • 1 cup Listerine (or any antiseptic mouthwash)

  • 1 cup white or apple cider vinegar

  • 2 cups warm water

Mix the ingredients in a foot tub, soak your feet in the minty concoction for an hour, and voila! You've got yourself a pair of soft, fresh-smelling, slightly blue feet! Don't worry about the minor discoloration, however; it will wash away in no time. Or maybe you like that fashion statement, in which case you're ready to step into your flip-flops and hit the town!

So raid your medicine cabinet and give it a try! Summer shoes are calling your name, and your feet will thank you!
