Drone Camera Captures Hilarious Moment Bumbling Taxi Driver Is Caught By Rising Tides

There is drone footage that has captured the moment a helpless Uber driver tried to race against the rising tide at Holy Island, UK, and got stuck surrounded by water. The taxi was seen getting caught in the water when driving back to the mainland from Lindisfarne Castle in October 2016. Holy Island is located off of the Northumberland coast.

The urgent Uber driver eventually made it to a high point on the bridge, which was still out at sea, but up high enough that the passengers could get out and take stock of their situation. This included an unhappy-looking woman in soggy boots and a Buddhist monk who waved at the drone camera as it flew overhead.

In the video, you can see a white car speeding by as it makes its way over the bridge and through rising waters until it reaches a safe spot on the highway. With so much water on the road, it is almost impossible to see the ground beneath the car as it drives to the emergency turn-off spot in the middle of the bridge.

Mark Bradshaw, 41, was the person who caught the incident, which occurred near Berwick-upon-Tweed, on his personal drone camera. He said he had never seen anything quite like that in his life. As the taxi sped along, Bradshaw filmed and wondered how they were going to get out of the situation. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident, although they did get very wet. Bradshaw happened to be in the right place at the right time to witness the entire absurd event. He said to the Mirror: “I went out to Holy Island with a friend to take footage of the castle. We saw the vehicle coming over from the island side. It was very brave of him and I decided to film him.” Brave is a very polite way to describe what the driver was doing.

The entire occurrence was pretty hilarious to witness as the car tried to win a race against the rising tide. The drone owner said, “I was in the military for 24 years and I’ve seen lots of things but nothing as ridiculous as that.”

After the car stopped at the high point on the bridge, the woman got out of the car to get a better look at what they were dealing with. “One of the passengers got out and walked up and down, pondering what their next move was. I guess they just had to wait for nature to take its course before they could leave,” Bradshaw said.

Once the car stopped, the driver gave a brief wave to Bradshaw’s Phantom 3 Advanced drone camera as he opened the door and got out. Everyone involved seemed to be doing whatever they could to figure out a solution to their problem.

The small group was eventually saved by RNLI rescuers who pulled up in a lifeboat and assisted the stranded people. Nobody was injured and hopefully, the driver learned a valuable lesson about risk-taking.
