Drew Barrymore’s Love For Life – And The Rain – Inspires Uplifting Responses

Jul 20, 2022 by apost team

In this technology-driven world, it can be hard to unplug long enough to appreciate the natural wonders of the world around us. We’re watching our screens instead of the sunset. We’re glued to our phones instead of listening to the birds sing. We watch strangers dance in TikTok videos instead of dancing ourselves.

While the distractions of the digital world do offer convenience, entertainment and an escape from reality, what reality are we trying to escape from? With cars, we’ve forgotten the joy of walking. With almost-instant food delivery, we’ve lost the thrill of cooking. With fast fashion, we’ve lost the ability to appreciate the care that should go into making quality products. Perhaps what we need is a reminder of how to come back to center, to be mindful of the beauty that can be found in the real world around us if we just looked and to enjoy moments for what they are instead of recording them on our phones to look at later.

And if you’re looking for such a reminder, perhaps take a gander at some of actress Drew Barrymore’s recent social media posts. The euphoria on her face as she finds joy in what many of us would not think about twice as an enjoyable occurrence is contagious enough to get us wondering.

Barrymore was born on Feb. 22, 1975, into an acting family and was drawn into the entertainment industry at an early age. The actress first rose to fame as a child when she played Gertie in the 1980s film “ET: the Extra-Terrestrial.” Barrymore endured a troubled childhood and ended up getting emancipated at the age of 14.

Barrymore has certainly been through a lot, but she was able to overcome the adversity she faced and went on to star in several films in the 1990s and 2000s. She is known for appearing in “Charlie's Angels,” “Never Been Kissed,” “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates.”

However, in March 2021, Barrymore announced that she would be taking time off from acting indefinitely, leaving a hole in the heart of her fans, who said they would miss seeing her face on the silver screen. But she still retains an active social media presence, and videos of her basking in the rain have struck a chord with many.

In a video posted on May 29, 2022, she was seen dripping wet, telling viewers, “If it’s raining anywhere you are, just run out in the rain. Don’t miss the opportunity.” Followers instantly flooded her post with encouraging comments, saying they admired her positive energy and passion for life.

Barrymore followed this up with another rain-themed video in July, this time showing her frolicking in the downpour, laughing and smiling gleefully. She again reminded us: “Whenever you can, go out into the rain. Do not miss the opportunity!”

Knowing how turbulent her childhood and her love life had been, many were happy to see the star let her hair down and freely and happily dance in the rain.

They praised the actress’s appreciation for the little things in life, and some even alluded to the fact that she is a Pisces, a water sign of the zodiac, for her love of the rain.

Many fans appeared to be of the opinion that Barrymore’s lust for life is a direct result of the chaos of her younger years.

“Partying at studio 54 when she was 7! I can’t imagine what she went through. I understand her being grateful for the small things,” @mothpaperwords wrote.

“I'm old enough to remember rehab stints and endless trauma Drew Barrymore. If she wants to enjoy some damn rain let her do it. I'm just glad she's alive to enjoy it,” @WildYoungCharm tweeted.

Many applauded Barrymore for being life goals.

“She’s an amazing human being. A total bad*ss hippie and I adore her with every part of my being. She is a powerful human being who has one of the most inspiring stories, and it’s still going. She has an extensive film career, a beauty product line and a talks show,” @Awktober1 wrote.

Just watching Barrymore live her best life filled many with inspiration.

“Sending the Drew Barrymore in the rain video to my therapist and saying ‘this is what I want,’” @blaireerskine commented.

“Such a Pisces,” one person commented in a similar fashion to a multitude of others who lauded her “Pisces queen energy.” Others simply said, "You are pure joy."

Barrymore’s free-spirited outpouring of joy and joie de vivre is a reminder that we should, at least every once in a while, slow down and take in everything the world has to offer with open arms. We can let go and allow the child inside all of us to dance, run and cry. The emails can wait.
