Legendary country music singer Kenny Rogers recently passed away at the age of 81 from natural causes. His death was announced on his social media, reporting that he had passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in hospice care.

Dolly Parton, occasional duet partner and a close friend of the iconic country musician, posted a beautiful tribute to him on social media. Sitting next to her piano at her home, she spoke about her feelings on the singer, bringing Parton to tears of remembrance and love.

According to a statement released by his family, they are ‘planning a small private service at this time out of concern for the national COVID-19 emergency. They look forward to celebrating Kenny’s life publicly with his friends and fans at a later date.’

In a video that Parton posted on Twitter yesterday, she said:

‘Well, I couldn’t believe it when I got up this morning, turned on the TV, checking to see what the coronavirus was doing, and they told me that my friend and singing partner Kenny Rogers had passed away,’

Dolly and Kenny shared a deep friendship that had spanned 30 years. In her tribute, Parton said ‘I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend.

Bidding farewell to her beloved friend Parton is certain that Kenny is in a better place now.

“I’m pretty sure he’s gonna be talking to God sometime today, if he ain’t already, and he’s gonna be asking him to spread some light on the darkness going on here.” Dolly emphasized her feelings saying how a ‘chunk of her heart had gone with him.'

She said she was sure she could speak for Kenny’s friends and family when she said she would always love him. When she held up a picture of the two country music stars taken together, Dolly was brought to tears, saying, “Maybe I’ll hold that up for everyone. I know you’re as sad as I am, but God bless you Kenny. Fly high, straight into the arms of God. And to the rest of you, keep the faith.”

Dolly and Kenny notably did a famous duet for their song “Islands on the Stream.”
