Cola was a happy, carefree puppy who unfortunately had a run-in with a cruel stranger. When he was only 12 months old, he ran away from home to explore the world.

While he was out and about, he ventured onto a neighbor’s property and begin gnawing on a pair of shoes that had been left out. This behavior is completely normal for puppies, but it was enough to send the man over the edge.

According to the Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, The neighbor approached Cola’s owner to complain, and she provided him with enough money to pay for a pair of replacement shoes. The man was not satisfied with this gesture. He returned to Cola’s home with a sharp sword and hacked away at the dog's front legs.

More than that, he threatened similar action against the owner’s other dogs if she called the authorities. Cola’s owner was not easily intimidated. She immediately called the police, and the neighbor served a month in jail.

As for Cola, he was whisked away to an emergency animal hospital for immediate medical attention. Rescue workers managed to save his life despite a developing infection and significant blood loss. However, Cola now had only two back legs, and his mobility was severely impaired.

Cola’s owner reached out to Soi Dog Foundation for assistance. This foundation provided Cola with a wheel cart and braces so that he can have greater freedom and mobility.

Cola’s owner did not want him anywhere near her disturbed neighbor, so she asked Soi Dog Foundation to assist with re-homing him.

The foundation’s co-founder had lost both of her legs several years ago, so she immediately bonded with Cola. Soon, she decided to adopt Cola and to give him the safe, happy home that he deserves.
