Dogs are man's best companions. They keep us entertained. They take us for walks around the neighborhood. They stay at our sides through the best and worst of times. Everyone who has ever had a dog can tell you about the many special memories their canine companions bring.

Dogs will always be there for you. Watch this canine companion help his elderly owner take a stroll through the neighborhood in a video reported on by MSN. The dog takes a few steps forward and then stops to let his human catch up to him. All along the way, this mature Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is keeping a watchful eye out.

One of their neighbors captured this routine after noticing how patient the dog is with his master. The elderly gentleman is doing quite well getting around with is rolling walker. His pace is just a bit slower. The dog seems to understand that this is the best his owner can do. So a slow walk it is.

The dog stops and checks on his owner every few steps. That's a show of the real love a dog has for the human it claims as its own. Seniors get a lot of benefit from having a canine companion around. They provide friendship and entertainment. They offer love unconditionally. They also give seniors a reason to get out of the house and to remain active.

The dog offers companionship throughout the day. It keeps the senior from becoming lonely and isolated. It also offers a safety net for when they are at home or out for a walk. Selecting a dog for an older person does require some thought. You need to match the dog's personality and activity level to the human's character and mobility level. A very active dog is not a good choice for an owner who cannot get around very well.

For seniors with mobility issues, a good dog companion is quieter and will get most of its activity needs met inside the house. This video shows what most of us already know: Dogs are the best. They love us, care for us, and make us happy. They give us joy and happiness every day.
