It’s another blow to the Chapman family. Leland Chapman, Duane “Dog” Chapman’s son, needed to be hospitalized recently, in the same week as his step-mother Beth Chapman’s memorial service. He was out on a manhunt and injured himself in a dramatic way. Now, he opens up on exactly what happened.

The Chapmans’ family business is bounty hunting, documented by several reality TV shows. In the first hunt since the death of the family matriarch, Beth Chapman, Leland recently tore his ACL and had to be taken away in an ambulance, reports AL.com. A source told the website that Leland will be out of commission for six weeks.

Now, Leland is recovering at his family’s home in Colorado. He told ET exactly what went down while he was chasing the fugitive, Edward Morales.

Ironically, he was just coming out recovery for another leg injury and was trying to take it easy. As he slowly pursued the runaway, an opportunity came up for Leland to kick down a door and stop Morales in his tracks. Unfortunately, the door flexed back at him and immediately tore Leland’s knee ligament.

He tried to put his foot down but he told ET, it “felt like I was walking on sand." Luckily he kept his pursuance and caught a lucky break when Morales couldn’t get over a fence. Leland quickly tased him and the rest of the crew pounced right on the fleeing criminal. Thankfully, they got their man. AL.com reports that the whole encounter will be broadcast on the show “Dog’s Most Wanted.”

Leland will most likely be on crutches at Beth Chapman’s funeral service tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Christian Center in Aurora, Colorado. Fans can tune into the Livestream of the funeral and join in the memorial service from their homes, on WGNAmerica.com or the Dog’s Most Wanted Facebook page.
