Duane “Dog” Chapman held a huge memorial service for his late wife Beth in Hawaii.

Beth Chapman passed away at the age of 51 last week on June 26th following a battle with cancer.

Friends, fans and family joined Duane Chapman this Saturday in Fort DeRussy Beach to celebrate Beth’s life and legacy. To honor Beth and her connection to the island of Hawaii, she was sent off with a ‘paddle out’, a type of memorial service typically dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives at sea while surfing.

During the service, the attendees “paddle out” on either a surfboard or a floatation device to form a circle in the ocean and place flowers. According to TMZ, Beth requested she be memorialised in Hawaii in true Hawaiian style.

The ceremony included a performance of the traditional Hawaiian “oli” chant as per Beth’s request prior to her passing. The ‘oli’ chant is used to make announcements such as not only the death of someone, but also births, weddings, and other celebratory occasions.

The late TV star had also planned out her funeral service and told her family she wanted her funerals to be open for public attendance in both Hawaii as well as Colorado. Her body will eventually be cremated and will be scattered in a location that has not yet been disclosed.

Many tributes have been made in honor of Beth from her immediate family as well as fans from all across the globe. Her daughter Bonnie wrote a series of tweets in memory of her late mother.

“Love you forever mom. You’ve got a halo now.” She wrote.

“I’ll never forget you, mama. You were such a strong woman, and you taught me to always be strong. You were strong for everyone, and you taught me it’s okay to let go.” she continued.

“I’d never thought I’d lose my mom at 20. I told her I thought she had a couple years left, but in her eyes she disagreed.”

Beth was diagnosed with stage II throat cancer back in 2017. Although she had been cleared by doctors last year following surgery to remove the tumour, the cancer returned and she eventually developed stage four lung cancer.

Following her diagnosis, Beth had been in and out of the hospital in recent months, and was eventually placed under a medically induced coma earlier last week.

Duane and Beth were in the production phase of their new show for WGN’s ‘Dog’s Most Wanted’ when Beth was given her second diagnosis. The show will air a special episode that will reveal Beth’s final days.

In the trailer, Duane is heard saying:

"My wife, the love of my life is fighting for her life, and instead of being at home helping her, I’m out here looking for you.”

"So I’m warning you, in advance, may God have mercy on you when I catch you… because I won’t.”
