A ten-month-old dog by the name of Rylee endured an incredible ordeal while making an effort to locate her lost family. Before it was all said and done, the Belgian Malinois had walked 12 miles and swam another six miles in search of her family.

One day, Edward Casas and his wife Kristen decided to share a quiet boat ride on the lake. Their boat experienced mechanical problems a few miles from shore. Kristin remained in the cabin while her husband attempted to fix the problem.

Each of the Casas thought Rylee was with their partner. Once they realized she was with neither of them, they searched for the dog. Rylee was nowhere on the boat.

The Casas sent out a mayday to solicit help from other boaters as well as the Coast Guard. They all searched nearby waters for hours only to come up empty.

Lynn Fielder is the wife of one of the fishermen involved in the search for Rylee. She runs a Facebook page dedicated to locating lost dogs. Lynn posted information regarding Rylee on her page and hundreds of people responded with promises to search for the dog. The post was viewed by 20,000 people.

A boater reported he pulled the dog out of the lake. The boater says the dog was dropped on a nearby beach named Empire Beach. The hopes of the family to be reunited with the dog were renewed. The dog was seen a day later in a wooded area not far from Platte River Campground.

Kristin and Ed drove to the wooded area and called out for Rylee. The couple was optimistic about the possibility of finding Rylee in the woods and their thoughts turned out to be right. It took about fifteen minutes of searching before Rylee came running to them. Lynn Fielder was happy to tell everyone that Rylee's story ended happily.

The couple was ecstatic to be reunited with their dog. They knew they had to do things differently in the future but now only wanted to enjoy their reunion with Rylee. As for Rylee, it took swimming and walking a great distance to find her family. But she persevered until she did just that.
