Dog Gets His First 'Freedom Run' After Living Tied Up For Years

Jul 15, 2020 by apost team

Biscuit the Siberian husky was captured on camera doing his "freedom run" in 2016 after living his entire life chained up on someone's property in Kentucky.

Pets entrust us to take care of them and it breaks our hearts when some owners neglect their duties. This puppy was a victim of said neglect and his story warms our hearts.

Amy Hines was on a trip to Kentucky in 2016 when she came across a Siberian husky chained outside of someone's home, according to Reshareworthy. This poor puppy had no protection whatsoever from the dangerous elements of the earth.

She was able to come to the conclusion, based on the chain and from a few other noticeable details that the puppy was rarely let off the chain.

Hines is a staff member at Dog Deserve Better, as Reshareworthy reports. Her love for animals convinced her that she could give the puppy a better life if she rescued it. The website, ILoveMyDogSoMuch states that Hines spoke with the owner and successfully gained the opportunity to take the poor husky as well as eight additional dogs from the property.

The other eight dogs were also showing signs of neglect. Most of them had frostbitten paws from being outside during the harsh winters without protection. If she had left them there, they would have had to go through another storm without the necessary care. Following this incident, she moved these dogs into a rescue shelter where for the first time, these poor puppies slept on beds in a shelter.

Dogs Deserve Better posted this message on February 26th:

"HOURS after that massive snowstorm hit last week, the last 2 Kentucky dogs were finally rescued and brought to Virginia with their 6 buddies. This rescue took 2 months and over 4500 miles traveled by multiple dedicated rescuers. Today, Biscuit and Benjamin made their first "Freedom Runs" chain free in our 6-acre field. It was spectacular."

Reshareworthy reports that the rescue center was originally the site of NFL player Michael Vick's dogfighting ring, Bad Newz Kennels. Shortly after his arrest, the operation was dismantled and Dogs Deserve Better flipped the site into the Good Newz Rehab Center. It was in this center that Biscuit, the rescued husky got his first chance to run free without the grasp of a chain.

As soon as he was let into the field, Biscuit took off. He ran around without any clear intention of going anywhere, but just for the sake of feeling free. This run was followed by a quick break to relieve himself, but then he proceeded to further explore the area. Watching the puppy run freely, you would have never believed that it was his first time having complete freedom.

In 2016, Dogs Deserve Better let its followers know that Biscuit had been adopted.

"BISCUIT has left the building!! We are so happy to announce he is happy, healthy and now home. Biscuit was one of the eight dogs rescued from Kentucky where they were chained in the snow, suffering from frostbite and so much more. Thanks to people like you all his ailments are cured, he is neutered, vaccinated, parasite and frostbite free - AND HOME!"

With a beautiful dog smile and great personality, it was no wonder that the husky was quickly adopted.

Dogs Deserve Better is still running and helping rehabilitate unfortunate puppies every day. They are looking for financial support so that they can continue to help poor puppies like Biscuit.
