During a March 2017 house fire, a family lost everything except for their dog, Chloe, who firefighters rescued.

Their cat, Ringer, couldn’t be found anywhere and was presumably consumed by the fire. While things may have looked bleak, their beloved cat had more in store.

The Michigan family saw their home go up in flames and their cat, Ringer, disappeared among the debris. According to Chief Ronald Wise, everyone was looking for the cat under furniture, around beds, and in every nook and cranny.

Firefighters rescued the family’s dog and, because she suffered from smoke inhalation, they gave her oxygen.Eight weeks later, the Marr family revisited the burnt-out shell in South Haven, Michigan. During that visit, they experienced the shock of their lives.

They brought Chloe with them and, all of a sudden, she began sniffing and digging in one spot. Immediately, they heard the faint sound of a crying cat. Using some food, they managed to lure the cat out from under the floorboards. The family was shocked when they discovered it was their lost cat, Ringer.

Their cat has been spending the last two months on the property and, during that time, lost half of its body weight due to malnourishment.

Christine Marr, Ringer’s owner, explained to Fox 17 News that she believes the cat is a miracle. She said that the cat has been wandering throughout the area for two months without water or food. Then, Chloe was able to find him down inside this hole, she further stated. She assumes that he was eating spiders and bugs while he was under there.

Fire Chief Wise thought it was phenomenal that Chloe could find the cat, and that it’s incredible. The Chief further stated that the dog is a hero and that, if she hadn’t, the cat probably wouldn’t have lived much longer.

It’s evident that Ringer is a survivor and Chloe had determination for finding him.

Not only is the family relived but the cat is grateful, as well. What’s more, is that is was Mother’s Day when Chloe found Ringer. Have you ever experienced anything similar with a dog? Let us know - and make sure to pass this along to your friends and family!
