Jeff Gonzales is an officer for the Washington County Police Department. He was patrolling the local area when he saw a lone labrador roaming the sidewalk. Gonzales walked up to the dog and realized that there was a collar around his neck. The dog stood still and barked aggressively.

The officer rolled down his window to have a word with the dog. When it was clear that the dog was in distress, Officer Gonzalez stepped out of his patrol car. The dog started walking in a direction and clearly wanted the officer to follow. Gonzalez knew the area well and realized that the dog was trying to convey a message. When Gonzalez arrived at the dog's house, he saw his owner collapsed on a chair.

Officer Gonzalez ran up to the woman to check her vitals. At first, he thought that the woman was already dead. Her lips were the color blue, and her body was cold to the touch.

However, the officer was able to notice a faint sight of breathing. He called for backup immediately. Fortunately, his partner was not far away. Officer Gonzalez worked to find a pulse and was able to establish that the woman was indeed still alive. His partner contacted the daughter of the woman. The officers learned later that the woman in the chair was named Krystal Wendt. Her daughter Rianna Wendt arrived at the house not long after the officers.

Krystal was taken to the Community Memorial Hospital located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Luckily, the hospital was not far from her house. The officers still had no idea what had happened to the poor woman. Doctors were able to run some tests and control Krystal's heart condition. Within a few hours, Krystal was conscious and on her way to a full recovery.

Gonzales later learned that Krystal collapsed just before taking her dog John Boy out for a walk. She slipped into unconsciousness, and John Boy immediately knew that something was wrong. He searched the neighborhood for two hours to find someone to come and save his owner.

Officer Gonzalez was not only in the right place at the right time, but he was also smart enough to realize that the dog was trying to communicate something. John Boy and Officer Gonzalez saved Krystal's life that day. Everyone should be willing to listen to what dogs have to say. They just may be saying something important.
