A Virginia woman named Laura Seymour was simply minding her own business when she noticed a dog chained to a fence while out for a drive. She did not know at the time that this day would change her life.

The dog had been chained to a tree with no food or water in the bowl. The poor pup had even dug a hole in the mud to sleep. The small akita dog looked miserable and Laura could not help but stop to check on him.

Laura was surprised to see how friendly the dog was when she approached it. She immediately fell in love with the pup and would come by and visit it a few days per week, always bringing treats and cuddles with her. Every time she pulled up to the house, the dog would get excited and start jumping up and down.

The concerned woman called animal control but was told that there was nothing that they could do. So she continued to stop by and fill up the dog's food and water bowls. These visits went on for a year until Laura became increasingly desperate and called animal control one more time.

Animal control called Laura back and said that the owners had decided to surrender the dog. Laura immediately offered to take in the dog as her own. She named the dog Takia and gave her all the love that she had been missing her whole life.

Takia now has all the food and water she could ever need. She is truly part of the family and is even included in photos with loved ones. It is so nice when a story like this gets a happy ending.
