Dog Can't Contain Joy As She Lays Eyes On Soldier Mom Returning From Deployment

Dogs are a man's best friend, and while we spend much of our time enjoying the company of our furry companions, sometimes it's hard to know exactly what they're thinking. For example, whether they think of us while we're gone and even if they remember us after we've been away for long periods of time. For Casandra Cabrera, a US soldier who had been deployed for 10 months, these questions were answered as her dog met her at the airport and immediately recognized Casandra, unable to contain its excitement at seeing her once again.

Casandra's dog Missy May was only one-year-old when her owner went away on deployment. Casandra was worried that the puppy wouldn't remember her in this period, as she was about to go away for 10 months. Casandra told website The Dodo, "I left when she had just turned one, and wasn't sure if she would remember me after all that time. Her reaction absolutely warmed my heart."

But much to Casandra's delight, when her mother Robbi came to pick her up at the airport as she was returning from service, she brought along Missy May. As they were awaiting Casandra's arrival down a set of escalators, Robbi approached her daughter with Missy May in tow. The minute the dog recognized Casandra she ran up to her so fast that Robbi had to let go of her leash.

She immediately began jumping on Casandra with boundless energy, making it clear she recognized her and had so much love to show her. As she jumped, it almost looked like she was trying to kiss Casandra's face. Proud mom Casandra was smiling and laughing the entire time, obviously very happy that her puppy didn't forget her

Other people in the airport could also see the clear love between the US soldier and her beloved dog. It was a beautiful moment that warmed the hearts of many more than just Casandra and her family.

Casandra told us that "Since reunion, she goes with me anywhere she is allowed and able to go. She is a healthy, happy now three-year-old. Enjoys frisbee, riding horses, and herding chickens."

Robbi, Casandra's mother also added, "These two are so bonded it is unbelievable. When Cassy doesn't [sic] take Missy May to work with her, Missy May can hear Cassy's truck come from what seems like a mile away."

Missy May even has an Instagram that highlights pictures of her adventures and special times with her mom.

The bond between humans and animals is a strong one, especially that with dogs. However much we show them love and they show it to us back, it's impossible to know what our furry friends are truly thinking. But this heart warming story between Casandra and Missy May shows that dogs really are a man's best friend.
