Maggie is quite the strong canine. When she was found abandoned inside of a box in Lebanon, her ear had been cruelly cut off. But that’s not all. The dog had also suffered not one, but seventeen gunshot wounds. Thankfully, she was able to get through her hardship in order to become a courageous therapy dog.

No one knows more about pain and struggle than Maggie, which makes her the perfect candidate for being a therapy dog. Maggie got her happy ending when a family from Brighton in the UK adopted her, and now they are sharing her story of struggle on their social media pages and going viral for the resilient pup’s outcome. When Maggie’s owner Kasey Carlin heard about the dog’s story from an animal rescue organization called Wild At Heart Foundation, she knew Maggie was the dog for her, reports Metro.

Now, Maggie is gaining appreciation from internet users all around the world when a recent Reddit post about her went viral. After she was found broken down and mistreated in Lebanon, campaigns began online to transport her from the Middle East. Although it is difficult to export animals from this area of the world, with the help of many contributors such as Carlin and her mother, the miracle happened.

But it wasn’t until Maggie arrived at the airport to be picked up that the new owners realized just how grim her situation was. On top of the gunshot wounds and ear trauma she had been through, her eyes also needed to be sewn shut in order to prevent any future infections that may occur. However, despite her physical flaws and health conditions, she was still in good spirits.

Maggie, clearly a strong and spirited animal, made a full recovery and was able to go home with her new family. In order to help her with her newfound blindness, Carlin adapted her home in order to help the dog learn her new location slowly. Many people wonder why Maggie wasn’t euthanized due to the extent of her injuries.

But when her owner saw display moments of joy, like sensing grass for the first time ever, she knew Maggie’s life was worth more than that. Maggie’s newest accomplishment is becoming a certified therapy dog, something that involved a lot of training. Now, her reluctance to stop fighting to survive and thrive is inspiring others around the globe.

We could all learn a lesson from Maggie and her owners about never giving up. What do you think about this story? Would you ever adopt an abused animal?
