Dog Appears At Police Station To 'Report Himself Missing'

Most pet owners will agree that a lost dog causes a lot of stress for the pet and the human. A dog in Texas recently took matters into his own hands, or paws, to help reduce the worry for his people. Not willing to sit back and wait to be found, the smart pooch headed straight to the police station to report himself as missing.

The arrival of the husky/shepherd mix in the lobby of the police station caused a lot of commotion on an otherwise quiet day. The bold pup went straight to the counter to file his missing dog report. Sergeant Rusty Martin was lucky enough to be on duty the night the relaxed and happy dog arrived. He, and others at the station, enjoyed the unexpected visit, reports I Heart Dogs.

The one-year-old dog named Chico stayed busy with the officer and others, playing ball in the lobby and posing for multiple photos. The police officers searched the dog for an ID but discovered his tags had fallen off his collar. A local animal control officer later arrived and scanned the pup to see if they could discover a microchip. Tired of waiting for a response, Chico took over again and headed back home. The dog exited lobby quickly and unexpectedly and took off before anyone realized what happened.

The officers posted photos of the event on their page to the amusement of their followers. Chico's owner learned of the adventure his dog had through the social media post and made a call to the station to let the officers know Chico was home safe. The officers and others who were at the station when Chico stopped in were happy to know the pet safely traveled the one mile back to his residence.

Chico enjoyed a good adventure and a lot of attention. Have your pets or your friends' pets ever decided to take a journey on their own? Spread this story to see how many people you know have pets that also love to wander.
