Dog Abandoned During Hurricane Florence Is Terrified Until He Sees Rescuers

Hey everybody, I've got a great story for you, but be forewarned, it's likely to get the old tears flowing. That's right, it's an emotional story and it will tug at your heartstrings. But, if you're up for it, it may inspire you.

Hurricane Florence recently hit the Carolinas and it was no joke! But what really blows my mind is when people leave their dogs to die in their flooded homes. Someone in the town of Lumberton, North Carolina did it. They left their dog at their flooded home with nowhere to go. Luckily, we don't have to focus too much on the unthinking, cruel, heartless people who left this dog to die. We're going to focus mostly on the positive and discuss the kind, heroic people who save these poor animals.

On Monday, September 17th, PETA workers came to the rescue after discovering this poor, scared doggy standing on the porch of the abandoned house.

The home was completely surrounded by water and the dog had nowhere to go.

The River Lumber had burst its banks and the whole town was overflowing with water. The water was getting so high that it was actually starting to reach the top of the porch where the dog was standing. From looking at the video, it is safe to say the water was at least one foot deep and most likely closer to two. The incident was captured on video and it's priceless to see the dog's ecstatic reaction when the man from PETA shows up to rescue him. Before the rescuer's arrival, it seems as if the dog is thinking, "How am I gonna get out of here?" pacing back and forth with his ears tucked back. However, once the man shows up to rescue him, his body language changes and he begins wagging his tail.

Once the PETA workers arrived, they transferred the dog to a staging area and eventually an animal shelter. It is truly unfortunate that anyone would leave their dog in such a dire situation.

When sharing the video of the dog being saved on Facebook, PETA wrote,

"RESCUED! PETA’s rescue team spotted this scared and abandoned dog in Lumberton, North Carolina on the porch of a flooded home with no way to escape the rising #HurricaneFlorence flood waters and were able to bring him to safety."

The best news in this whole situation is that this dog will be living somewhere safer from now on, with people who will truly take care of him. Remember to take care of your loved ones and your pets!
