Elvis L. Francois and William Robinson are doctors from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

They recently performed John Lennon’s song Imagine to give a message of hope amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

Drs. Elvis L. Francois and William Robinson are both chief residents in the orthopedic department of the Mayo Clinic in Minnestoa. Recently, they did a cover of John Lennon's Imagine to send encouragement to medical staff who are working hard amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

They chose Imagine because they believe it is an encouraging song about people coming together, and they wanted to do their part to help comfort people in this difficult time.

Dr. Francois sings while Dr. Robinson plays the piano. Francois told ABC News, “Music goes places that medicine can’t go. You can perform the perfect surgery but that next day, when a patient’s going through rehabilitation or they’re faced with a difficult diagnosis, music is something that speaks to the spirit.”

On his instagram post, Dr. Francois writes,

"Over the next few months our health care system will be tested. Many lives will be lost. Health care providers will be under an incredible amount of stress to save thousands of people. But when times are as dark as they are today, nothing shines brighter than the human spirit."

Speaking with Good Morning America, Dr. Robinson said, "Music is one of the dominant players in the art of medicine. It kind of brings out a certain level of healing that's really hard to do with any sort of pill or surgery or anything like that."

"[The song] really uplifted me and I felt could hopefully share that with people," added Dr. Francois.

Music is an amazing way to connect people all over the world especially given our current climate. Remember to pass this story along to your friends and family.
