Doctor Thought Soldier Husband Was Deployed Overseas Only To Discover He's Her Newest Patient

It isn't easy being a military spouse. Your relationship is filled with both love and heartache. Each deployment brings fresh worry. You never know when "that call" might come.
Alice Splinter knows those trials pretty well. Her husband Joshua was deployed overseas in the Port of Africa. He's a family physician with the Texas Army National Guard reserve. He never knew when, or if, he'd be called to serve.
Alice is also a doctor and had to finish her residency. While Joshua was away, Alice moved to another city and settled there with their children. She had to build a new life, essentially as a single mother

Joshua learned that he could return to America ahead of schedule. However, he wanted to keep the good news as a surprise. Whenever the couple talked on the phone, Joshua pretended he was still in Africa.
What Alice didn't know was that Joshua and his friend were planning a touching reunion.
Alice was told that she had a meeting with a new patient. She was all ready to go and walked into her office. When she opened the door, Joshua was there, posing as that new "patient."
Alice couldn't believe her eyes. She told Inside Edition that she almost passed out! It was probably the best gift ever.
We just love seeing military reunions. It's a reminder of the humanity that we all share: those special connections that mean so much to us.
Are you a military spouse? If so, tell us what it felt like to see them again after a deployment.
