Disneyland’s First-Ever Customer Has Made Use Of His Lifetime Ticket Every Year Since 1955

Disneyland certainly knows how to celebrate its guests and make them feel special. Take Dave McPherson for example, who in 1955 was the first paying customer to buy a ticket and step foot into the iconic theme park. Ever since then, McPherson has enjoyed a perk that came with buying that first ticket – a lifetime pass to the park for himself and three guests.

McPherson is considered a very important person at the parks, so important that he has achieved a certain level of celebrity among park goers and Disney fans, all because of his spot in line. As proof of his status, the Disney park emblazoned the VIP status across the front of the annual pass it bestows upon him at the start of every new year.

For his part, Dave vividly remembers the day he decided to visit Disneyland at just 22 years of age while he was a student at California's Long Beach State College. According to the New York Daily News, when he heard that the park was having its grand opening on the radio, he decided to make the short drive over and get in line, a line that he started. McPherson said he arrived to claim his spot at the gate at two in the morning, but was soon joined by other eager part goes. By the time the park opened there was a line six thousand long.

Being first in line though put him in a great position to take advantage of his claim to fame when it comes to Disney history. Even though his admission ticket cost him just one dollar, McPherson was buying into a lifetime of Disney admission, and not just for himself. To celebrate their opening and recognize the sale of that first ticket, Disney announced that Dave would be receiving a pass to the park for life, and indeed his pass is good for all Disney Parks.

As the New York Daily News reports, at the start of every year, Dave says that he receives his annual pass, making it possible for him to visit whenever he wants and to take three guests into the park with him. The value of the pass is priceless, and indeed it has helped Dave create even more priceless moments with family and friends by his side.

More important is that the passes have never gone to waste because Dave has used the pass each and every year since he received it. In fact, he made up for the fact that while he purchased an admission ticket for his first visit, he was not able to stay and enjoy the park because he had classes that morning. Now though, Dave says that he takes his wife and friends with him to enjoy the park, and loves meeting people that are just as excited about a day at Disney as he is.

Most people probably couldn't imagine what it would be like to have a free lifetime pass to Disney. Can you? It does make one think about who you would take with you though. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
