Disheartened Passenger Given Bottled Water After Airline Forgets Her Pre-Ordered Vegan Meals

If you ever plan on traveling to a distant place, you should always anticipate that long flights can make you feel hungry one way or another – not to mention the possible delays or stopovers that would make your trip even longer. So, it’s best to have food with you all the time. While it’s better to prepare your own meals, going for in-flight options is always more convenient.

Then again, you’ll never know if the ingredients put into the meals suit your diet or not, so some people call airline companies ahead of time to avoid inconvenience. But what if you thought you had everything planned only to find out you won’t be getting any of the food you pre-ordered?

A woman named Miriam Porter was supposed to have a smooth flight during her 10-hour journey from Frankfurt, Germany, to Toronto, Canada, as she hoped everything would go as planned. But her flight turned into her worst nightmare after the meal she ordered in advance didn’t arrive. Instead, she was given something else that left her disheartened. So, she did what she had to and turned to TikTok to share her harrowing experience.

Porter wanted her trip to be as smooth as possible, so she made sure to plan everything ahead of time, including her meals. Since she is vegan, she had everything prepared and ordered her meals a month before her scheduled flight with Air Canada. She even had them confirm her order not once, not twice, but three times.

Much to her disappointment, the first meal served to her during her flight was nowhere near any of the food that she ordered from them. No, it wasn’t meat-based, but it was certainly not a meal either.

That’s right, the woman was served bottled water. As if it wasn’t enough to disappoint her, the second meal given to her was not as edible as one might think: a napkin.

Porter said she often packed her own food, but since her connecting flight from Berlin had been delayed, she could no longer prepare her food at that time.

“Before you say bring your own food, I always do - but this was already a 24-hour delay/cancelation, and I had no access to prepare anything,” she wrote in the comments.

Meanwhile, she revealed it wasn’t the first time she had experienced a situation where airlines had forgotten her pre-ordered meals.

Thankfully, the flight attendant brought her fruit and granola bar in lieu of the bottled water. But when the second meal was served to the other passenger, she didn’t get any again.

"I was grateful to the kind flight attendant who brought me fruit for the first meal, and also a granola bar when everyone got their second hot meal and I didn't get anything again," she told Business Insider in an interview.

Meanwhile, Porter acknowledged the fact that she wasn’t the only one who experienced the same situation.

"I think a lot of people can relate to challenges when traveling these days," she said in the same interview.

She had proven it in the comments section of her TikTok video when they shared similar experiences they had with the same airline. “Flew AC business ordered the vegetarian meal, they gave it to another passenger. That was fun,” one user wrote. “Air Canada is well known for a lot of things, unfortunately, none of them positive. Sorry you had this happen to you,” another user wrote.
