One man's demonstration of honorable sportsmanship at the NFL has gone viral and shown us all that regardless of our differences, we can still be kind to one another.

Football fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and it's not uncommon for people rooting for opposing teams to get into arguments or all-out fist-fights at games. Does it have to be like this, though?

Can people who support two different teams or ideas put aside their differences and treat each other with a baseline of respect we each deserve as a human being?

While football team rivalries can bring out the worst in a lot of fans, it can bring out the best in others.

Photographer Michael DeMocker captured a heartfelt moment at Sunday's face-off between the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints.

When it was time for the audience to stand for the national anthem, a Saints fan realized the Giants fan in front of him was disabled and decided to lend a helping hand.

The Saints fan helped the Giants fan stand and supported him throughout the entire duration of the song.

Although each of them attended the game in support of a different team, they came together in a simple act of kindness that illustrates the compassion and unity we should all share for one another. As the national anthem played, these two men served as a touching testament to the solidarity that the song stands for.

While we should always choose kindness no matter where someone is from, there's a special sense of community embedded in the patriotism of the United States that makes this moment especially touching.

Our political landscape is rough right now, but we still have the ability to reach out and help one another despite our differences.

Whether you root for rival football teams or belong to different political parties, at the end of the day, we're all human.

The photo of the fans' special moment was shared on Twitter and quickly generated over 20,000 likes and 13,000 shares. Perhaps one of the best parts of living in the digital age is that small acts of kindness such as this are able to have global impacts thanks to the internet.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, the Saints wound up winning that day. It may not have been a triumph for the Giants, but we know at least one of their fans left feeling happy.
