Death of someone close has a way of touching every single one of us. That's especially true when someone young passes, no matter what the cause is. This rings true for the small town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia which is located in Canada. This town has been stripped from the presence of MaCali Cormier, a four year old little girl that once lived there.

On November 24th, MaCali and her family attended the annual parade just like they always had. The Christmas Parade of Lights is very familiar to the residents there and almost everyone attends. Everyone looks forward to the event, especially the kids of the community.

The strange thing is that the parking was a little different this year. It had caused confusion and a crash. Because of this, MaCali paid the ultimate price with her life.

One of the local residents, Vance Webb, stated to The Canadian Press that they were all parked on the side of the parade route. The cars were all lined up bumper to bumper. It had created a ton of spots in where kids were running in, out, and around all the parked cars.

The road size had been drastically reduced because of the parking arrangements. The kids were anxious to see the parade and you could see them peeking out from behind cars to take a glimpse.

Webb said that in all the 14 years that he had lived there, he hadn't ever seen the cars parked in that manner before. He went on to say that the parking arrangements were on the official Facebook page of The Christmas Parade of Lights. The page stated there would be plenty of parking available on the street.

The parade was coming to an end when something seemed to be wrong. Webb and many others noticed that one of the floats bumped and then stopped suddenly. People saw something underneath the float.

At first they thought it was just an object, not a person. Once they realized it was MaCali, panic began.Web states that everyone he saw was crying and many screaming. He said there was hundreds of people in shock. It wasn't something you could just forget and walk away from.

Although her body was crushed beneath the float, her legacy will live on. MaCali will not be forgotten. She was known for having a loving heart and being very kind to everyone.

A friend of their family, Devan Boudreau, said that MaCali was one of the friendliest children he knew. He said that she would offer kind words and even a hug to strangers. Devan said that she was always so happy.

The loss of this one little girl has touched hundreds. At Yarmouth's Frost Park, there were so many that came to mourn and celebrate MaCali's life. In honor of MaCali, many brought teddy bears with them and some wore purple which was her favorite color.

One of the organizer's for the vigil hopes that MaCali's family knows that the entire community will stand behind them and help out with anything they could possibly need. It's true, there are even strangers that have stepped in to help out.

Amazingly the family wasn't charged anything for the funeral. And even more, H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home is taking up a collection to start a trust fund that will benefit MaCali's family.

This was a horrible accident that happened to MaCali. To see the community helping and standing behind her family in such a hard time is heartwarming to see. Let's help MaCali live on through legacy and pass her story on to other parents and loved ones.
