The Detroit Youth Choir managed to move Terry Crews to tears on Tuesday night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent”. The choir, which consists of youngsters aged between 8-18 years old, is led by Michigan local Anthony White.

Crews, who is a Michigan local himself, was so captivated by the performance he gave the group the Golden Buzzer.

"I've been the director of this wonderful youth group for over 21 years," said White. "We're here to let the world know that we have some wonderful young people here in the city of Detroit."

The group then went on to perform a breathtaking rendition of Macklemore’s and Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us”.

Apart from Crews, the rest of the AGT judges all seemed amazed by the performance, all giving a standing ovation at the end as the audience erupts into cheers.

“This was your moment,” Howie Mandel is heard telling the youth choir. “The dancing and the singing and the rapping, it’s so much more than what you’d expect from any other choir. I love you, I love you all.”

Even hard-to-crack Simon Cowell was visibly impressed by the performance.

“If you could keep doing this where every performance is the last thing you would expect from a choir to do, you could win this,” he said. No one, however, was more emotional than Terry Crews, for whom the performance touched a little close to home.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor told People magazine that he was on the lookout for talent he had never heard or seen before, and it was all the more special that the choir came from his home state. “Every young woman and man on this stage represents me and where I came from,” Crews is heard saying following the performance.

“I remember sitting at my window in Flint, Michigan, dreaming and wanting to make it, and wanting to be here. And they’re here. They did so well! I have to do this!” the 50-year-old continued before rushing to the Golden Buzzer.

“Mr. White, people like you are the reason I am where I am right now," he said, "All it takes is one person to believe that you can do it and you have that. And that’s more than so many people have on this Earth.”
