Desperate Stray Dog Limps Up To Pharmacist Seeking Medical Treatment For Her Injured Paw

In 2019, an injured dog wandered into a pharmacy in Turkey to seek help for its wounded paw. Luckily, she was met by Banu Cengiz, a pharmacist and life-long animal lover. She has an especially soft spot in her heart for dogs and goes out of her way to help them whenever she can.

As a matter of fact, Banu’s own dog was a stray that she rescued years ago, as The Dodo reported. Banu's pharmacy is located in a hot-spot area for stray dogs. You can find them napping curbside or seeking leftovers and handouts from strangers.

Consequently, Banu made a comfortable spot outside the pharmacy where some of these wayward souls can stop for a nap, a bite to eat, and a drink of water.

Instead of chilling in that outdoor spot like the other dogs, this sweet little pup was waiting at the door when Banu arrived. She welcomed the adorable doggy inside where it immediately took a seat and raised a paw. Cengiz said: "She was looking at me. I said, 'Baby, is there a problem?'"

This was when Banu noticed the dog had a large, bleeding cut on that paw, and so she quickly got to work. She cleaned and sanitized the wound with antiseptic.

Judging from the video, you can tell the dog understood that she was being helped, as she patiently allowed Banu to take care of her. Could she have somehow just known Banu would help, after years of sitting outside watching sick humans venture inside the pharmacy for their own cures?

After Banu finished caring for the dog, the stray appears to show her appreciation by rolling over on her back. "She was saying ‘I trust you’," Banu added. After giving her an antibiotic to prevent infection, Banu set up a dog bed and some food and water. The grateful dog was able to rest and recover inside the pharmacy for the rest of the day.

At the closing of the day, the sweet pup returned to her usual life on the streets, but it’s doubtful she will ever forget Banu’s kindness and compassion.

As you can clearly see in the video, the dog just somehow knew that this human could help her. There is a long-standing and unmistakable bond and connection between humans and animals, especially in circumstances like these. Kindness, compassion, and appreciation are virtues that can transcend species.
