Parents who provide a nurturing home give their children the foundation they need for a stable, successful future. But how would it impact a child's life to be raised by a parent with Down Syndrome?

A young man from Syria whose name is Sader Issa was brought up in this exact type of home. He is extremely grateful for the love and care he has gotten from his father who has this condition.

Sader's childhood was actually a very happy one. His dad, Jad Issa, went out of his way to be the best father to Sader that he could possibly be. In spite of the challenges of their situation, the family learned to thrive as a close-knit unit.

Jad works hard at the local mill to provide for his family's needs. Sader loves going with his father to his workplace on a regular basis. The people who live near and work with Jad treat him with the respect and kindness he deserves. Jad is known as a man of great sincerity, compassion, and devotion. Sader is extremely proud of his father, who has always shown him plenty of love and support over the years.

Jad is so proud of Sader and all of his accomplishments too. Sader is studying to become a dentist, which is a very esteemed job in Syria. Whenever Jad and Sader were introduced to someone new Jad would let them know right away about his son becoming a dentist. Nothing makes Sader happier than knowing that he is his father's pride and joy.

Sader opened up about his experience growing up with a father with Down Syndrome in a 2019 video released by the Syrian Society for Social Development. He explained a bit about his father's situation:

"He was a father, a husband and a family leader for 21 years. This is a challenge for many people and many people cannot do this. But for my father, it was easy."

He then spoke about his own experience growing up as a child of a parent with Down Syndrome. He said:

"A child who grows up in the lap of a person with Down Syndrome will have all the love and tenderness that anyone can offer. This will lead up to a person who has an emotional and social balance and is able to achieve anything he wants."

He added:

"For me, if I could choose who my father is, I wouldn't think of someone else and I'm proud of him the same way he is proud of me."

Sader explained that during his studies, Jad has been his biggest supporter in a number of ways, from economically to psychologically. Knowing that his father did everything he could to provide for him while he was growing up has moved Sader to do exactly the same in return as a show of appreciation to both his father and mother.

Sader's parents are just like any other married couple, he explained. Like any couple, they might disagree sometimes but their relationship is one "full of love, simplicity and humility in all respects."

The proud son spoke about his father and how well-liked he is in the community. Sader said:

"The social relations are simple and pure because he loves every and any one, and in return all people love and respect him and (treat him) like any ordinary person."

Sader also spoke about how grateful he is that his grandmother gave birth to his father. For a woman to find out that her child has Down Syndrome isn't necessarily easy news to hear. Children born with this condition have special needs and require extra care. This is why Sader is forever thankful that his dad's mother rose to the occasion. He knows that without her dedication both he and his father Jad wouldn't be where they are today.

His mission to raise awareness of the fact that people with Down Syndrome are certainly capable of being parents and living full lives is incredibly admirable. On his Instagram page, which has over 26,000 followers, Sader describes himself as a "Down Syndrome advocate." He has shared many photos of his gorgeous family with stories about them. In a post from March 21, 2021, he shared a touching photo of him and his dad and wrote:

"Our loved ones with DS are our source of inspiration and strength, when we feel down they raise us to the highest sky with their love and compassion. Personally I think I would've been much less excited about life and much less passionate with what I do if I didn't have my special father."
