Dentist Says 4-Year-Old Has 9 Cavities But Mom Suspects It's Part Of A Wicked Lie

We are all taught from an early age to listen to doctors and dentists when it comes to our health. We would like to believe that they know what they are talking about when it comes to bodies and our teeth. Unfortunately, that may not always be the case. This was the issue when a young mother in Burnsville, Minnesota, took her daughter to the dentist.

Marina Looyen and her husband are diligent about proper oral hygiene, especially when it comes to their two small daughters. They have always made sure that both girls brush their teeth every single morning and night.

Because of how careful they were, Marina wasn’t too concerned when she took her 4-year-old to the dentist for her annual checkup and cleaning. After all, she had been super careful to make sure she knew how to brush and floss well.

The dentist had been practicing for more than 20 years. While the cleaning went well, things suddenly took a very strange turn.

Marina was shocked when she heard what the dentist was saying. She came out to tell Marina that her little girl had nine cavities in her mouth. She also said that four of those cavities were in need of crowns, which would require Ella to go under general anesthesia.

Marina had actually gone to school to become a dental assistant and was shocked at what she was hearing. Not only that, the dentist was urging her to jump right into the procedure that very day. However, Marina decided to decline. She wanted a second opinion before going any further.

A second dentist took new X-rays and looked inside her mouth, coming to a very different conclusion. That dentist said that while the little girl did have a couple of cavities, the number was nowhere near the amount that the previous dentist had told them.

The office the first dentist is working for, Metro Dental Care, is now being scrutinized by other families and the news after Marina shared her story in a local Facebook group. She quickly found out that she was not the only one to have concerns about this particular dentist.
