Denim-Clad Men Tempt Audience To Join Them In Line Dance

A viral dance video on the internet usually means a group of teenagers inventing the next biggest craze, performing in their bedrooms or on top of their cars to what amounts to thousands of viewers. They show off incredible timing, creativity, and skill, which leaves most audience members feeling like all they know how to do is tap their foot along to the beat.
Social media has led to the popularity and overnight success of some of these dancers, given they can upload their inventions and instantly begin gaining views. Dancers draw from influences such as old music videos, traditional ballet moves, and just their own imagination.
In 2022, the Wednesday Adams character from the Netflix series inspired TikTokers to imitate her waifish wailing arms and zombie-like moves to the delight of viewers everywhere. Similarly, dancers throughout the year showed off their skills to Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage," Doja Cat's "Say So," and countless others.
For those who are more of a fan of the wide open country and less of a big, crowded city, something with simpler steps might suit them. Luckily, the boot-scooting, hat-tipping hits are making a slow comeback. Surprisingly, Gen Z is dancing to Shania Twain as much as they are Rihanna.
With the rise of country music along with its sub-genres of y'allternative and trailer house, line dancing and other moves associated with the genre are making an unexpected appearance amongst the viral videos.
One viral video of two men dancing to "Wagon Wheel" has proved that you don't need all the newest dance moves or to play the hit song to charm an audience, just perhaps a tight pair of jeans and a little rhythm.
A line dance is defined as a "choreographed dance in which a group of people dance along to a repeating sequence of steps while arranged in one or more lines or rows." For those that have never seen or participated in a line dance, the steps are easy to follow; it is just the movement of the formation that is perhaps a little tricky.
The "lines usually face all in the same direction, or less commonly face each other." These lines then turn, shift, or slide in unison to face a new direction and start the sequence of requisite steps all over again. One of the features that sets line dancing apart is the distance that is maintained between dancers. For the duration of the song, "line dancers are not in physical contact with each other," which is totally different from partners dancing the tango or waltz.
People might recognize the steps and songs of more popular line dances, like the Macarena or the electric slide.
While those two are great for weddings receptions and children's birthday parties, a viral video of two men leading a whole room in a line dance showed that the more traditional steps – and the more traditional dress – definitely still do the trick. We can’t seem to trace the origin of the video, but we found it on the internet and loved it.
They clicked the heels of their boots and spun expertly. The dance was choreographed by one of the dancers, David Vilellas, who was accompanied by his equally talented friend Julien. Together, they make quite the show. Maybe we'll see their moves on TikTok one of these days.
