Demi Moore has been a Hollywood actress for decades, ever since becoming a member of the so-called Brat Pack in the 1980s. Her roles in that decade include ensemble movies such as "St. Elmo's Fire," "About Last Night..." and more. But it wasn't until 1990 when she appeared in "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze that she had her leading lady breakthrough. The role garnered her a lot of praise and even earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
Ever since then she's dominated the screen appearing in movies such as "A Few Good Men," "Striptease" and "G.I. Jane.” At one point in the late 1990s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood at the time. She later enjoyed a resurgence with supporting roles in movies including "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle” and "Rough Night."
In the last few years, the actress has even diversified her work, as she released a memoir in 2019 titled "Inside Out." Never one to shy away from the camera, Moore has also begun modeling more often in the last few years. This includes editorial shoots, such as a swimwear campaign for the brand Andie, as well as walking the runway for various brands including Fendi and Rihanna's Savage X Fenty lingerie line.
Along the way, Moore has also opened up about her personal struggles that she’s faced, especially following her divorces. She has been married to musician Freddy Moore and actors Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher. Moore’s marriage with Kutcher was very toxic, and nearly destroyed her relationship with her three daughters – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

Moore’s relationship with Kutcher received public scrutiny as she was 40 years old at the time they met while Kutcher was only 25. On top of that, Moore already had a public divorce from Willis, whom she had three children with. While Moore and Willis remain on good terms and were able to co-parent well together even with the inclusion of Kutcher, the story is not so simple when it comes to Moore’s relationship with her daughters.
During her marriage to Kutcher, Moore relapsed with her prior substance abuse issues. She was so committed to making her relationship with Kutcher work, that she seemed to put everything else on the backburner, including herself and her kids. However, their marriage ultimately failed, and they divorced in 2013 after eight years of marriage, one of which they spent separated.
During a guest appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s series “Red Table Talk,” alongside Rumer and Tallulah, Moore opened up about what her relationship with Kutcher was really like. According to Marie Claire, Moore broke her 20 years of sobriety when she first started dating Kutcher.
“The addiction and the codependency like my addiction to Ashton – that was probably almost more devastating because it took me seriously away emotionally,” Moore revealed.
When Kutcher first entered their lives, Rumer was 15, Scout was 12 and Tallulah was 9. While there should have been excitement about gaining a step-father, the trio was saddened by seemingly losing their mother. Moore’s youngest daughter later opened up about what her relationship with Moore was like, especially after Rumer and Scout moved out.

“Watching the behavior with Ashton, those years, because everyone had left the house and it was just me living there, I felt very forgotten,” Tallulah said. “I feel like I developed and nurtured a narrative where she didn’t love me and I truly believed it. I know that she does, 100% but in that moment, you’re hurt.”
When Moore was 42 years old, she and Kutcher found out that she was pregnant, but ended up losing the baby at six months. The pair tried IVF, but nothing came of it. Rumer explained how hard it was to feel important during this hard time. She said, “When she wanted to have another baby, and it wasn’t happening and there was so much focus on that, it was like, oh well we’re not enough?” Tallulah confessed that she was estranged from Demi for three years, but eventually worked on their relationship again.
Even though Moore and Kutcher didn’t work out, Kutcher had still played an important role in the lives of her three daughters. Rather than just give up on those relationships completely, Kutcher worked to stay connected with the girls.
Back in 2019, Entertainment Tonight reported that Kutcher was spotted grabbing a bite to eat with Rumer in Studio City. He looked happy to be spending time with his former step-daughter. This wasn’t the only time Kutcher spent some quality time with his former step-daughter. Back in 2018, PEOPLE reported that the actor signed over his Los Angeles home to Rumer as co-owner.
Although Moore struggled to maintain a good relationship with her daughters during her toxic relationship with Kutcher, she and her girls have since worked through their issues together. To this day, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah have also managed to stay on good terms with their former step-father.
