Demi Moore Reveals the One Question That Changed How She Thinks About Being Perfect

Demi Moore has spent many years in the public eye, and for a long time, the pressure to be perfect followed her wherever she went. But at 63, the acclaimed actress is finally talking about why she's let that go — and the unexpected piece of wisdom that helped her do it.

According to PEOPLE, Moore opened up during a Power Talks panel discussion hosted by Kérastase at NYA Studios in Los Angeles in March 2026. The conversation quickly grew candid, with Moore reflecting on how deeply she had once been consumed by the pursuit of perfection. "I certainly have been trapped by trying to be perfect," she admitted.

But someone close to her offered a perspective that stopped her in her tracks, "(They) said, 'Do you know anyone that's perfect?' And I said, 'No.' (They said), 'Do you know anything that's perfect?' I said, 'No, I don't know anything that's perfect.' And he said, 'Well, why would you want to be no one and nothing?'"

That reframe clearly stuck. “The Substance” star also pushed back on the unwritten rules society tends to place on women as they age. One that particularly never sat right with her? She was told to cut her hair once she reached a certain age. "It didn't make sense to me why that was some collective rule that existed," she said.

Her response was simple and defiant. "Who says that that's how it has to be? Why shouldn't you have it however you feel the most beautiful, the most comfortable, the most confident? So I let my hair grow, and I am quite attached to it." For Moore, that decision was about a lot more than hair.

For Moore, getting older has never meant slowing down or settling. If anything, she sees it as an invitation to keep evolving — and she's passing that mindset on to her kids. She told the panel, according to PEOPLE, "I feel like the greatest gift that I can give my children — the greatest gift that I can give myself — is to work on myself to become better every day." It's a philosophy rooted in gratitude and presence. She added:

"If I wake up in gratitude, then I can step into that day already from a space of openness and possibility."

Change, she says, is the one thing she has always counted on. The "Landman" actress said:

"The only thing that we can truly count on, the only true constant is change. And so, we can either flow with it or we can resist it and be limited by it. And so, I would much rather be in the flow."

And at 63, Moore shows no signs of having it all figured out — and she's perfectly fine with that. She shared:

"I want to know at the end of my life that I've done everything possible to really step into the fullness of who I am. And I don't think when we're in our early days that we know who that is. And I can say sitting here at 63, that I'm still in discovery."

It's a refreshingly honest admission from a woman who could easily rest on decades of iconic roles and achievements. Instead, Moore is leaning into the unknown — and making it look like exactly the right place to be.
