The song 'Anyone' was written just a few days before she experienced an overdose and had to be hospitalized, reports CNN. The 27-year-old singer had been coping with alcohol addiction and the song was written about those struggles. The lyrics read:

"I tried to talk to my piano

I tried to talk to my guitar

Talk to my imagination

Confided into alcohol"

When she appeared on the Grammy stage dressed in an elegant white dress, and before she could enter into the lyrics, she became choked up on stage with her piano player. The emotions overcame her and she had to start the song over again before belting out an impressive ballad that might be one of the most important performances of her entire career.

She completed the powerful song and because the audience knew about her entire back story, they rose to their feet in a roaring standing ovation. Her performance was well-received worldwide and became the #1 song on the iTunes music chart.

Now that you've watched the incredible performance, be sure to let others know about Demi Lovato's story. It will make the song that much more impressive.
