Demi Lovato started her comeback with a bang at the 2020 Super Bowl. Millions of viewers were treated to her heartfelt rendition of the national anthem just before kickoff.

Just one week earlier she debuted her new song "Anyone" at the Grammy Awards. This marked her first live performance since her near-fatal drug overdose back in July 2018. Her Super Bowl performance makes clear that she is not easing slowly back into work; Lovato is clearly coming back full throttle.

The star was clearly overcome with emotion as she stood on the field wearing a simple yet elegant white gown. And no wonder: this moment had special significance for Lovato. Exactly ten years earlier, the then younger star had watched the 2010 Super Bowl performance and twittered: "One day, I'm gonna sing the national anthem at a super bowl." Now, her dream finally came true.

Lovato's rendition of the national anthem brought listeners nearly to tears. Her powerful voice make chills run down your spine as she hits every note of the song. While she may have had problems in her past, this performance clearly shows that she has lost nothing of her talent or skill.
