Motherhood is hard, but single motherhood might just be the hardest thing you'll ever experience.

Single mothers are left on their own to deal with all the emotional pain that comes with caring for a child that needs their mother now more than ever.Every day is a challenge to keep the tears away. Life was so cruel and unfair to you, how can you go on?

But then you look into the two bright eyes that make everything worth it. Your child looks at you with nothing but love, staring up to ask, "are you alright?"

So, you must stand up, find the last piece of strength that you have to tell your beautiful child that you are okay. You tell them you weren't crying, there was just something in your eye.

This is where the lying starts. You lie to your child so you don't have to hurt them. Why should they suffer the same way you do?

Your child shouldn't have to feel that they need a father figure. So you play both roles. You love your child enough for a mother and doubly for the father.

While you love your child enough for two people, there is someone out there who should've responded to the word "dad", but he never will. Real dads don't leave the moms alone, crying, and sad.

They never walk out on their kids.

Someone deserving of the word "dad" is happy to tuck their child in each night. They're there to kiss them, hug them, and tell them everything will be just fine. Real dads come to every game to cheer their kid on.

Dads lift up their children to stand on their shoulders, showing them that they can reach the stars because they're standing so high.

Dads are just what children need to feel unique and special. But with no dad in the picture, the mom has to step in. These single moms have to carry this burden, knowing that there will never be that dad to give their child the world.

The burden they carry is so heavy because they can never share how hard it is. They carry on, they continue, they multitask because they have to.

They are tired, but they keep going. Though they go it alone, they know their responsibility and they see it out.

These single moms never talk about what they have to do to keep their kids fed and keep a roof over their heads.

They never share about their emotional pain. These single moms still have love in their hearts, with no one left to reciprocate it.

These women have to pretend to be the strongest in public when others are watching and judging. But when they come home, they can't hold it in anymore.

They fall apart, breaking into so many little, shattered pieces--and these pieces will never be glued back together. It's damage that will never be fixed.

They live like this, like everything is normal until they're home alone and it's not.

These single moms are the true heroes, but no one tells them that; no one sees that.

Instead, single moms are gossiped about, judged, and made fun of. They are the ones that society doesn't understand, the ones that no one can relate to--until they have to walk in their shoes. Once you become a single mom, you'll see the constant battle that is their everyday life.

It's a battle between the single mom living for herself and living for her child. It's her pushing for everything the world never gave her, so she can give it to her child.

Even with all the pain, the judgment, and the tears, it's those big, beautiful eyes that keep pushing her to fight. She fights twice as hard as anyone else, just to make sure her child never feels the pain.

Single moms fight to give their children the world, showering them with affection, advice, and love.

Even with alimony, single moms keep working hard. They can't disappoint their children more than they already are.

They watch the tears in each child's eyes whenever they see families with fathers having fun together and enjoying each other's company.

Try as they might, single moms can't come up with any valid reason why their family doesn't have a dad to go home with and why they never will.

Single moms have a perpetual lump in their throat, always so close to tears. But they keep going, making up some excuse to explain away the absence of their child's dad. With heavy steps, these single moms crawl home, pretending that they can be enough for their child.

Trying every day to be a slightly better version of themselves, single moms do all they can to give their child the dream family they want so badly.

Then, during the quietest moments, single moms look at their child, knowing that they're doing all they can.

It is during moments like this that single moms don't regret a single thing. They'll do it all and they'd do it again. They're doctors, housekeepers, psychologists, best friends, and above all else, they're mothers.

Through it all, single moms know that their child will become the person that they are supposed to be.

And that's thanks to their superhero of a mom! Moms are truly superhuman.

If you are a single mom, it may be hard to see it now--but it's worth it.Lift your head, stand proudly and know that you are doing better than the best.

You are enough!

You deserve the world!

You are worthy of every good thing!

You may have imperfections, but you are imperfectly perfect.

Don't look to your difficulties to find your worth. You are enough as you are.

It's not easy and it may never be easy.

But that doesn't mean that you can't do hard things. Your kids see you and know that you're their superwoman.

Single moms are truly in a league all their own. Are you a single mom? Let us know what you thought of this love letter to single moms in a comment below and pass this along to other moms you know!
