Many people were involved in a major search when a three-year-old girl, Aurora, went missing near her home in the woods.

Luckily, she was safely found after a 15-hour-long search. This was thanks to Max, a dog who refused to leave the little girl's side. He slept by Aurora's side during the night while she was still missing.

Max is an Australian Cattle Dog who is 17-years-old. He is not only deaf but partially blind as well.

On that Friday, Aurora was playing at her home in Queensland, Australia. She strayed too far from her home and was then reported missing. The police joined in and launched a major search to help find the little girl.

Not only did Aurora’s family and the police help with the search, but 100 volunteers also helped to bring her safely home. Saturday morning came with still no sightings of Aurora. She hadn’t been found.

Then, something amazing happened during Saturday’s search. Aurora’s grandmother was surprised when a dog, Max, came up to her.

“I shot up the mountain and when I got to the top, the dog came to me and led me straight to her,” her grandmother said to CBS News

Max had actually found Aurora about two miles away from her home. He had even stayed the night with her and alerted the searchers to where she was that Saturday morning. She was missing for a total of 15 hours. She wasn’t harmed or hurt during the time she was missing. Max has now been rewarded by the local police for his efforts in his heroic search.

If Max hadn’t stayed with Aurora, she might not have been discovered for a long time. Animals can be so amazing and do the most outstanding things. Tell us your favorite animal story below.
