David Arquette Reveals Key To His Happy Marriage With Christina McLarty After Divorce From Courteney Cox

David Arquette, the star of the slasher film franchise "Scream," has been married to his second wife, Christina McLarty, since 2015 and has acknowledged her as the brains behind their happy union as husband and wife and producing partners.

Arquette met McLarty, a journalist and TV producer, at a boat party in 2011 and instantly clicked with her. A year prior to their meeting, McLarty was in a short-lived marriage to Joe Francis, who founded "Girls Gone Wild," the popular adult entertainment franchise, while Arquette and his first wife, "Friends" superstar Courteney Cox, were finalizing their divorce after a decade together.

Describing his then-new love, Arquette told Howard Stern on his radio show that McLarty was someone who made him feel good about himself. However, because of the nature of their work, with the constant trip and on-location filmings, the two would embark on an on-and-off relationship for three years until they had a son in 2014.

Charlie West is McLarty's first child and Arquette's second since he shares Coco, his daughter, with Cox. At the time of their split, Coco was five years old.

Then in 2015, Arquette and McLarty finally tied the knot in Los Angeles after four years together. Coco and her mother were guests at their wedding, along with two basset hounds that have been part of their family.

By 2017, Arquette and McLarty welcomed their second child, Augustus Alexis, named in honor of Arquette's sister, who passed away in 2016. Arquette said that his wife had been such a trouper through a challenging second pregnancy while she has also been looking after their toddler.

In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly from January 2023, Arquette admitted that marriage is tough, but he and his wife have found the secret to a happy relationship:

"You have to figure out how to really make it work with each other, to hear each other and allow each other to be yourselves, but also to have your strong boundaries."

As parents, Arquette and McLarty also make it a point to be present in their sons' lives. Charlie and August are in a lot of Little League baseball games, and their mom and dad make sure to cheer them on. Arquette also said that his sons are developing their quirks, humor and personalities through their mom's nurturing.

The actor and McLarty also work together as producers of shows and live events:

"I'm so grateful to Christina, my wife and producing partner. She's just like the brains of the operation. The woman behind the man."

Meanwhile, Arquette is also thrilled that Coco has been learning how to drive. He has maintained a good co-parenting relationship with Cox but also acknowledged in a 2020 interview that there are difficulties in parenting a teen daughter:

"We've just had – not an easy time with it, we've just been really open and supportive of each other."

However, the actor is grateful he and Cox didn't have to "battle" each other during their divorce because the process is already difficult as it is. Arquette said he continues to communicate with his ex-wife for the benefit of Coco, especially when it comes to her emotions and feelings as a growing young woman.
