Daughters Are Home Alone When Intruders Start To Break In But Family Dog Comes To The Rescue

Tim Ryan lives in a quiet neighborhood where he’s always felt safe leaving his two teenage daughters alone. While he knew that his dog, Penelope, would do nothing more than just “lick intruders to death”, Tim wasn’t worried about his Virginia Beach area where crime has never been a concern.

That all changed when two burglars on the run from police decide to take refuge in Ryan’s home. The two criminals were running from police when they spotted the peaceful looking home where Tim's two teenager girls were staying by themselves for the afternoon. The men jumped over the privacy fence using the family’s own recycling bin as a springboard to make the leap over the fence. Once they were in the yard, they made their way to the back door and pushed the door so hard it tore off a piece of the hinge according to WTKR News 3.

The noise of the break-in started one of Tim Ryan’s daughters who was sitting on the couch in the house and was near the door. Their docile-seeming half-lab, half-pit rescue dog decided to show a side of herself that the family had never imagined.

Instead of being social with the intruders, she instantly sensed the danger and began ferociously barking! She was so fierce sounding that she ran the two men out of the house and toward the waiting police.

When Tim heard what had happened and the way that Penelope stood up for his family and home, he was absolutely astonished. While he has always considered the dog to be his best friend, he had never thought that she might go to such extreme lengths to provide protection. Tim now reported to KTWR News 3 that he feels safer than ever leaving his girls at home and feels like they are in good hands with Penelope on the lookout!

Obviously, even the sweetest of dogs can become protective and ferocious when faced with a threat to the people they love!
