Annabel Beam, 13, from Texas, was playing with her sisters in her garden in 2013 when the unthinkable happened. She fell inside a hollow tree and was stuck 30 feet down at its base. The miracle was that she survived, but not only that – the fall inexplicably cured her chronic digestive disorder.

Annabel had been climbing the hollow cottonwood tree with her sister. She slipped and fell 30 feet down to the bottom, leaving her trapped inside in the mud. Her elder sister, Abigail, now 15, rushed inside to get their mom, Christy.

Her mom called 911, and the emergency services arrived to assess the situation. Annabel was drifting in and out of consciousness. When she was awake she tried to get herself out and was able to make arm gestures to everyone around to let them know she was ok, reports the Mirror.

It took almost five hours for the firefighters to free her, due to the complex nature of her entrapment. Throughout the ordeal, Annabel remained calm. "If anyone was entombed in the base of a tree for five hours, they’d be hysterical. But she never was," says Christy. Annabel's family all prayed for her to make it through ok.

Incredibly, Christy told the Mirror that her daughter "had scratches and was bruised. But she just had a minor concussion – that’s all doctors diagnosed." The hospital declared that they had never had a situation where someone had fallen 30 feet and not ended up with broken bones, or even worse paralyzed.

The family is calling this incident a true miracle. Annabel states she believes very much that this was a religious experience, describing how as she waited to be saved, she saw a vision of Jesus and another sister who had passed away. The teen, who has suffered from a severe digestive disorder all her life, sometimes so bad that she had to be hospitalized nine times a year, also began showing signs that she had been cured. Doctors are calling it a medical miracle.

The story captured the heart of Jennifer Garner, who went on to play the role of Christy in a 2016 film based on this true story: "Miracles From Heaven." Garner is said to have developed a close bond with the family, and the story strengthened her faith, reports the Mirror.

Annabel's dad, Kevin, carved a cross into the tree, which to this day remains in their garden. A symbol of the miracle that changed the Beam family forever.
