Darci Lynn Nervously Returns To Stage Then Unleashes Song That Has Everyone Soaring From Their Seats

January saw Darci Lynn Farmer’s reemergence in national television spotlight, as the 14-year-old ventriloquist and former America’s Got Talent champion returned for another season, this one bringing together the most memorable AGT fan favorite’s from previous seasons.

Darci Lynn won AGT’s 12th season in 2017, when she was just 12 years old, making her the show’s third child champion, as well as the third ventriloquist to win a season. However, the other ventriloquists, Terry Fator and Paul Zerdin, were experienced adults, already passed 40 at the time of their wins.

Darci Lynn was a naturally shy girl who loved to sing but, at one point, possessed bad enough stage fright that she joined the International Cinderella Scholarship Program, hoping to overcome her fear of performing to an audience. She wasn’t sure the AGT audience would even take to her singing puppets.

She needn’t have worried. From the moment that her floppy-eared rabbit puppet, Petunia, reached over to silence Darci Lynn and keep her from stealing the limelight, the young girl charmed both the viewers and judges, alike.

In fact, the clip of that performance went on to become the most socially-viewed video in AGT history, just 30 hours after broadcast, and eventually reached spot number four on Youtube’s list of the top trending videos of 2017.

So Darci Lynn was a natural choice for the newest season. When she walked onstage, once more, the very first of the contestants to perform, Simon took the opportunity to rib her, telling the young girl that, while there was no pressure, as the first up, she’d need to set the standard for everyone who followed.

Immediately, her mouse puppet, Oscar, fired back a joke at Simon’s expense, following up with a performance of “Nutbush City Limits” and “Proud Mary” that once more wowed all four of the judges. At one point in the performance, Darci Lynn even hushed her puppet so she could sing in her own, natural voice.

While a loss in the second episode's fan vote resulted in Darci Lynn being knocked off the show, rumors abound that she will be brought back by the judges as a wild card, given how impressed they were with her performance.
