Daniel Craig is likely a household name across the world today. Though Craig has starred in other movies throughout his career, his most well-known role is, of course, playing special agent James Bond.

Since the movies began filming in the 60s, the actors playing the role of "007" have gone on to achieve great fame and acclaim. Before Craig, Pierce Brosnan held the role of "James Bond." It is a prestigious role indeed, and Craig has done the role great justice as well.

Craig has always lived a relatively private life and unlike other A-list celebrities, does not like being in the spotlight after he is done filming. However, he has taken opportunities previously to speak out about his love for his family as well as his wife. Craig has been married to actress Rachel Weisz since 2011, with whom he shares a daughter. Craig also has a daughter from his previous relationship with Fiona Loudon.

Both he and Weisz kept their romance and marriage under wraps for quite a long time. Though he has kept his life and thoughts private for a long time, he does share them once in a while in different interviews.

It's a relationship that took quite a while to come to fruition, and it's clear that Craig is protective of it and truly values Weisz as a partner. The pair first met during the 1990s while working together on a play but didn't start dating until 16 years later. Let's take a look at Craig and Weisz's heartwarming love story.

Craig is an actor who has been in a plethora of films and most notably and recently starred as James Bond in "No Time To Die" in 2021. This is the fifth and final Bond movie, according to GQ. While filming the movie, there was a lot of chaos, according to Craig, such as the first director, Danny Boyle, quitting, Craig getting injured, and an explosion on the set, among other challenges.

However, as Craig completed his filming and took his final bow of being James Bond, he certainly felt emotional about leaving this chapter of his life behind. When he had to make a speech after his final scene, Craig recalled, "I had a whole thing kind of put together in my head that I wanted to say. I couldn't get it out."

Now that Craig has left behind his role as James Bond, there is a lot of speculation as to who will take over the role. While some people believed that it was finally time for a woman to become Bond, this has not been a popular belief. For his part, Craig said in an interview with Radio Times that women "deserve their own parts that are just as good."

He added, "There should simply be better parts for women and actors of color." He went on to ask, "Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?" Still, British actor Lashana Lynch is set to take over Bond's 007 status in the new movie.

Not much is known about Craig and his private life, and according to Hello Magazine, Daniel previously stated that privacy was "hugely important" to him and his wife. The couple has rarely, if ever, spoken about their daughter, and Craig has also not publicly spoken about his 29-year-old daughter Ella, whom he shares with his ex-partner Fiona Loudon. However, both Craig and Weisz have spoken about each other during interviews in the past.

According to PEOPLE, Weisz said, "I never thought I would get married," adding, "It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn't relate to romantic comedies — marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment."

Marie Claire reported that though the couple is not very public with their romance, there is an abundance of love between them. "I'm very happy being married, very, very happy," Weisz said, adding, "I love being Mrs. Craig," She revealed that "I'm Mrs. Craig on my checkbooks and passports and things."

For his part, Craig spoke to BBC Radio One about how his filming schedule tends to affect his relationship with his family. "I'm away from home for eight months. There's no other way of doing it. My family hated me," he admitted. "They're just starting to forgive me now." However, one thing that Craig never does is bring his work or his character home.

About his work-life balance, Craig said, "Oh it's very easy just go home, it's just normal. There's not much room for James Bond at home."

While it's clear that Craig and Weisz are happily married today, it took quite some time before they even dated. They first met while working together on the play "Les Grandes Horizontales" in 1994. However, they didn't begin dating until 16 years later, in December 2010.

Fortunately, it was evident that there was chemistry between them and their relationship only continued to flourish. The happy couple tied the knot in June 2011 in a very small and private ceremony in New York City. Craig and Weisz later welcomed their first child together in September 2018, adding to their beautiful family consisting of Craig's daughter and Weisz's son.

In November 2014, Weisz opened up about keeping her marriage with Craig as private as possible, as the pair had successfully kept their relationship under the radar. She told E! News, "He's just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage."

The actress added, "When you're young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything. When you're married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you're in your own life."

During an interview in 2015, Weisz spoke more about her personal life. "I don't know a Hollywood lifestyle," she admitted, talking about how she had humble beginnings in London and has managed to balance both her career and Craig's career along with their successful marriage.

In 2018, Weisz spoke with the Evening Standard about how she and Craig have learned to make marriage their own. "It's very personal. It's very private," she said.
