Daniel Craig: Inside His Life And Private Marriage With Wife Rachel Weisz

Though Craig has starred in other movies throughout his career, his most well-known role is, of course, playing special agent James Bond. Since the movies had begun filming in the ‘60s, the actors playing the role of 007 have gone on to achieve great fame and acclaim. Before Craig, Pierce Brosnan held the role of Bond. It is a prestigious role indeed, and Craig has done the role great justice as well.

Craig's most recent Bond movie, "No Time To Die," was released on Oct. 8, 2021. This was his fifth and final Bond movie. While filming the movie, there was a lot of chaos, according to Craig, such as the first director, Danny Boyle, quitting, Craig getting injured and an explosion on the set — among other challenges. Even though he has been in many other films, Craig will always be remembered as one of the great actors who brought his own interpretation to the role of Bond.

The actor has always lived a relatively private life, and unlike other A-list celebrities, does not like being in the spotlight after he is done filming. Some may not know that Craig is married to actress Rachel Weisz. The couple has rarely, if ever, spoken about their daughter, and Craig has also not publicly spoken about his 29-year-old daughter Ella, whom he shares with his ex-partner, Fiona Loudon.

Both Craig and Weisz have kept their romance and marriage under wraps for quite a long time. Even now, the public does not know much about them, but Craig and Weisz have spoken out about each other before. Read on to learn more about Craig’s wife and family.

With so many setbacks on the set of “No Time to Die,” Craig had actually wondered if the movie would even be completed. However, as he finally finished filming and took his final bow as James Bond, he certainly felt emotional about leaving this chapter of his life behind. When he had to make a speech after his final scene, Craig recalled, "I had a whole thing kind of put together in my head that I wanted to say. I couldn’t get it out."

Not much is known about Craig and his private life, and according to Hello Magazine, Daniel previously stated that privacy was "hugely important" to him and his wife. But he did mention his kids in an interview from August 2021.

Craig said that he would not be leaving behind his hefty $170 million fortune to his children. The actor believes that it would be "distasteful" for his children to inherit his money once he passes, and he added that he would be giving all of it away before his time comes.

NME reported that in an interview with Candis Magazine, Craig asked the interviewer, "Isn’t there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you’ve failed?" He continued, "I think Andrew Carnegie gave away what in today’s money would be about 11 billion dollars, which shows how rich he was because I’ll bet he kept some of it, too."

Craig then elaborated on his point. "I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful. My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go,” the actor said.

Weisz is an accomplished British actress best known for appearing in “The Mummy” franchise, “About a Boy” and “The Favourite.” She has received many awards and accolades for her talent as an actress. Weisz is the recipient of an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Laurence Olivier Award.

Despite being very private people, Weisz and Craig have spoken about one another in interviews. Weisz shared why she prefers to keep their relationship out of the tabloids. She told E! Online

"He's just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage. When you're young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything. When you're married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you're in your own life."

Weisz has also mentioned that marriage was not a goal for her when she was younger. According to PEOPLE, Weisz said, "I never thought I would get married," adding, "It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies — marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment."

For his part, Craig told GQ about his secret wedding, “We did it privately. And I’ve got a lot of people to thank for that. But that was the point. We did it for private reasons.” He added later in the interview, “Look. I'm in love. I'm very happy. And that is as far as I'm prepared to go. Life is long, life goes wrong and I don't want to say something now that might be thrown back later.”
