Dancing Dog Finds Loving Home After Rough Start

Jul 10, 2020 by apost team

A dog named Ginger Rogers danced up a storm inside her cage at an animal shelter in Orlando, Florida. The stray, a possible Border Terrier mix, was found with heartworm disease not far from the shelter. She didn't have tags or a microchip but did have a harness on her, which leads experts to believe she had an owner. Experts believe Ginger Rogers used to dance for treats which is why she is always up on her hind legs.

A Tough Start to Life

The story of Ginger Rogers starts at the Orange County Animal Shelter in Orlando, Florida. When this pup arrived there, it was clear that she had gone through some pretty rough circumstances. According to Inside Edition, she was diagnosed with heartworm upon arrival. This is a very treatable illness, but with so many people looking for pets in great health, it prevented many folks from considering this sweet dog.

Folks at the Orange County Animal Shelter wanted to find this pooch a forever home so they waived the adoption fee on her in hopes that it might cause someone to take a look at her. Unfortunately, not being a puppy and not having a defined bred also worked against Ginger Rogers.

The Story Has a Twist

Determined to find this lovable dog a home, the shelter workers continued to do everything they could to get Ginger Rogers adopted. It wasn't long before those who worked at the shelter discovered that this canine had a special talent no one knew anything about. Ginger Rogers had some sweet dance moves.

Once this skill was discovered, the staff got a video camera and started recording these dance sessions. When the music started playing, Ginger Rogers would get up on her hind legs and start moving to the tunes.

It turns out that this footage of Ginger Rogers getting her groove on would be exactly what was needed to find her a forever home. Once the video was placed online, it wasn't long before someone visited the shelter and decided to give this fun pooch her forever home.

This heartwarming tale is a great reminder that, no matter how rough your life is in the beginning, a happy ending is always possible. It's also a lesson in being able to remember that to every living being there is more than meets the eye.
